Officials of the Enforcement Directorate today conducted searches on the premises of Telangana Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy and his son Harsha Reddy in a case of alleged money laundering and smuggling.
16 teams from the ED, which arrived from Delhi, simultaneously raided 15 locations, including Reddy's homes and offices.
The raids, which began early in the morning, were carried out under tight security provided by the CRPF.
As of now, neither the minister nor his close associates have responded over the raids. The minister was reportedly present at his official residence during the raids and was even meeting people.
The ED officials are expected to release a full statement with details once the raids conclude.
Ponguleti holds a key position in the Telangana government, and the raids have sparked widespread discussions in the political circles of Telangana.
Similar raids were carried out on Ponguleti's residences and offices by Income Tax (IT) and ED officials in the run-up to the previous Assembly elections, too. On November 3, 2023, his residences in Khammam town and Nandagiri Hills in Hyderabad were searched by IT and ED officials. Additionally, raids were also conducted at Raghava Pride on Banjara Hills Road No 10 during the same time.
