Famous child rights activist Achyutha Rao today died of the coronavirus in Hyderabad.
He was 58 years old.
Rao was infected by the virus a few days back, and had been admitted to a private hospital at Malakpet. He was soon put on a ventilator by the hospital authorities. However he breathed his last anyway.
The brother of Achutha Rao and popular cartoonist, Sridhar, was also affected by the virus but had recovered completely a couple of days back.
Rao had carried out a lot of agitations for protecting the rights of the children of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. He had even established an NGO named Balala Hakkula Sangham for the purpose. He also rescued several children from slavery and child marriages through his NGO.
