Centre Should Treat Telangana And AP Equally: KCR

On a 2-day visit to New Delhi, the Telangana CM said that he had requested PM Narendra Modi to give Special Status to Telangana on par with Andhra Pradesh.
Hyderabad | 8th June 2014
Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Sunday demanded that the BJP-led NDA Government at the Centre treat Telangana and Andhra Pradesh equally.

Briefing media persons on his 2-day visit to the national capital, KCR said that he had requested Prime Minister Narendra Modi to give Special Status to Telangana on par with Andhra Pradesh.

He also demanded that Telangana not be discriminated against, and that all the assurances given in the Andhra Pradesh State Reorganisation Bill be implemented.

He claimed that the Prime Minister agreed to look into the demands.

KCR said that he had apprised the Prime Minister about Telangana's opposition to the ordinance on the Polavaram Porject, and demanded that the 7 mandals of Khammam district should remain with Telangana. He said that the TRS MPs too would lodge their protest in Parliament on the issue.

He also demanded changes in the design of the Polavaram Project.

He said that the issue should be sorted out by convening a meeting of 4 States - Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Chattisgarh and Odisha.

Speaking about the farm loan waiver issue, the Chief Minister appealed to the farmers to restrain from taking extreme steps.

He said that the TRS government would implement all the promises that it had made to the people. Therefore, the farmers should not get carried away by false propaganda.

He said that nearly 23 lakh farmers would benefit from the loan waiver scheme. (INN)
