After the former chief of the Telangana unit of the TDP, L Ramana, resigned from his post
some days ago, the already weakened party had been left in a state of flux.
Today, TDP supremo and former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu issued a statement saying that former Shadnagar MLA Bakkani Narasimhulu would serve as the new Telangana TDP head.
Narasimhulu, who had also served as a board member of the Tirumala and Tirupati Devastahanams, called on Naidu and his son Nara Lokesh after the announcement, and presented them with bouquets as an expression of his gratitude. He then thanked the party supremo for giving him the post and reposing faith in him.
"I will work hard to develop the TDP in Telangana," the leader gushed.
His colleagues in the yellow party seem to have also welcomed the decision. In fact, even before the announcement, the leaders had assured Naidu that they would abide by his decision
and would work as a team and strengthen the party in Telangana, and had suggested that he appoint new working presidents for the Telangana TDP while choosing a new president.
The jubilation within the party seems to suggest that it has been able to overcome what could have been major setback for it in Telangana's political arena.
Many had suggested that Ramana's exit had boded ill for the TDP for a whole host of reasons, and that, apart from this, perhaps the defection had a slightly more personal impact on Naidu himself since Ramana has been a close aide of the former CM for nearly three decades.
