Telangana Congress Legislature Party deputy leader T Jeevan Reddy alleged that the TRS government was deceiving Muslims and trying to water down the process of giving them reservations by conceding only 9%.
Speaking at the Assembly media on Sunday, Jeevan Reddy said that the TRS government, which had earlier promised 12% reservations to Muslims, was now trying to slash 3% from it because that might hurt the sentiments of other communities.
He called out the Sudhir Commission on its recommendation of 9%-12% reservations for Muslim, and accused the State government of stripping the commission of its autonomy.
Reddy said that if Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao was serious about Muslim empowerment, he ought to persuade Modi to intervene and help bring 12% reservations for their populace in Telangana.
