Telangana Health Minister Etala Rajendar today said that a 500-bed new hospital with modern facilities would be built in the Karimnagar district headquarters.
Rajendar was on a surprise visit to the district hospital in Karimnagar district, where he inspected the facilities.
The Health Minister said that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao had directed him to build a new hospital with a 500-bed capacity and modern facilities in the district. The hospital would be built in one year, by demolishing the existing one, he added. He then asked the officials to prepare proposals for the hospital.
The new hospital would be helpful to people coming from the old Karimnagar and Adilabad districts, the minister said.
Earlier, Rajendar inspected the facilities in the old 350-bed hospital, which appeared to be in a dilapidated condition. He enquired with the patients about the treatment and the health services by the hospital officials and staff. He said that the vacant posts of doctors and others would be filled in the hospital soon.
