Truth and how much time we spend on it?

by Reality,,its here.Accept it. » Fri Nov 19, 2004 2:16 pm

I actually had to find time out of my empty schedule to read your posts, enigma.

But I am happy I did. This incident relates to the story about the car & the brick, and i am happy that there is someone who wanted to throw the brick at me.

Reading your posts made me realise a hoard of things like...

>how lucky i am to know someone personally who tells me all these things.

>how much better life would be if only we applied very fer of the principles u talked about to our own lives.

>how lucky people around you should be.

>how the world needs more people like you, on the boards and in real life.

Keep going and thanks for the effort.

question time!!!!!!!!!

by enigma » Fri Nov 19, 2004 6:33 pm

George Bush goes to a primary school to talk about the war. After his talk
he offers question time. One little boy puts up his hand and George asks
him what his name is. "Bob".

"And what is your question, Bob?"
"I have 3 questions. First, why did the USA invade Iraq without the
support of the UN? Second, why are you President when Al Gore got more votes? And third, what happened to Osama Bin Laden?

Just then the bell rings for recess. George Bush informs the kiddies that
they will continue after recess. When they resume George says, "OK, where were we? Oh that's right ---

question time. Who has a question?"
A different little boy puts up his hand. George points him out and asks
him what his name is."Steve"

"And what is your question, Steve?"

"I have 5 questions.

First, why did the USA invade Iraq without the
support of the UN?
Second, why are you President when Al Gore got more votes?
Third, what happened to Osama Bin Laden?
Fourth, why did the recess bellgo 20 minutes early?
fifth, where is Bob?" :)

A middle aged woman had a heart attack and was taken to the hospital.

While on the operating table she had a near death experience. Seeing God

She asked "Is my time up?"

God said, "No, you have another 43 years, 2 months and 8 days to live."

Upon recovery, the woman decided to stay in the hospital and have a
Facelift, liposuction, and a tummy tuck. She even had someone come in and change her hair color. Since she had so much more time to live, she
figured she might as well make the most of it. After her last operation,
She was released from the hospital. While crossing the street on her way
home, she was killed by an ambulance.

Arriving in front of God, she demanded, "I thought you said I had another

40 years? Why didn't you pull me from out of the path of the ambulance?"

(You'll love this!!!)

God replied,

............
................

"I didn't recognize you." :)

Ten things God won't ask

by enigma » Fri Nov 19, 2004 6:44 pm

1...God won't ask what kind of car you drove;

He'll ask how many people you drove who didn't have transportation.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
2...God won't ask the square footage of your house,

He'll ask how many people you welcomed into your home.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
3...God won't ask about the clothes you had in your closet,

He'll ask how many you helped to clothe.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
4...God won't ask what your highest salary was,

He'll ask if you compromised your character to obtain it.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
5...God won't ask what your job title was,

He'll ask if you performed your job to the best of your ability.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
6...God won't ask how many friends you had,

He'll ask how many people to whom you were a friend.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
7...God won't ask in what neighborhood you lived,

He'll ask how you treated your neighbors.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
8...God won't ask about the color of your skin,

He'll ask about the content of your character.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
9...God won't ask why it took you so long to seek Salvation,

He'll lovingly take you to your mansion in heaven, and not to the
gates of Hell.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
10...For god's sake plz forgive me

1. I can only please one person per day. Today is not your day. Tomorrow
is not looking good either.
2. I love deadlines. I especially like the whooshing sound they make as
they go flying by.
3. Tell me what you need, and I'll tell you how to get along without it.
4. Accept that some days you are the pigeon and some days the statue.
5. Needing someone is like needing a parachute. If he isn't there the
first time, chances are you won't be needing him again.
6. I DON'T HAVE AN ATTITUDE PROBLEM, YOU HAVE A PERCEPTION PROBLEM.
7. Last night I lay in bed looking up at the stars in the sky, and I
thought to myself, "where the heck is the ceiling?"
8. My reality cheque bounced.
9. On the keyboard of life, always keep one finger on the escape key.
10.I don't suffer from stress. I am a carrier.
11. You are slower than a herd of turtles stampeding through peanut
butter.
12. Do not meddle in the affairs of dragons, because you are crunchy and
taste good with ketchup.
13. Everybody is somebody else's weirdo.
14. Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level, then
beat you with experience.
15. A pat on the back is only a few inches from a kick in the butt.
16. Don't be irreplaceable. If you can't be replaced, you can't be
promoted.
17. After any salary raise, you will have less money at the end of the
month than you did before.
18. The more crap you put up with, the more crap you are going to get.
19. You can go anywhere you want if you look serious and carry a
clipboard.
20. Eat one live toad the first thing in the morning and nothing worse
will happen to you the rest of the day.
21. If it wasn't for the last minute, nothing would get done.
22. When you don't know what to do, walk fast and look worried.
23. Following the rules will not get the job done.
24. When confronted by a difficult problem, you can solve it more easily
by reducing it to the question, "How would the Lone Ranger handle this?"
25. Only the mediocre are at their best all the time.
26. There's a fine line between genius and insanity. I have erased this
line.
27. Bring ideas in and entertain them royally, for one of them may be
the king.
28. If at first you don't succeed......skydiving isn't for you.
29. Life is a waste of time; time is a waste of life, so get wasted all
of the time and have the time of your life.
30. When everything is coming your way.....you're in the wrong lane.

What goes around comes around

by enigma » Fri Nov 19, 2004 11:29 pm

He almost didn't see the old lady, stranded on the side of the road. But even in the dim light of day,he could see she needed help. So he pulled up in front of her Mercedes and got out. His Pontiac was still sputtering when he approached her. Even with the smile on his face, she was worried. No one had stopped to help for the last hour or so ... was he going to hurt her? He didn't look safe, he looked poor and hungry. He could see that she was frightened, standing out there in the cold. He knew how she felt. It was that chill which only fear can put in you. He said, "I'm here to help you ma'am. Why don't you wait in the car where it's warm? By the way, my name is Bryan." Well, all she had was a flat tire, but for an old lady, that was bad enough. Bryan crawled under the car looking for a place to put the jack, skinning his knuckles a time or two. Soon he was able to change the tire. But he had to get dirty and his hands hurt. As he was tightening up the lug nuts, she rolled down the window and began to talk to him. She told him that she was from St. Louis and was only just passing through.

Bryan just smiled as he closed her trunk. She asked him how much she owed him. Any amount would have been all right with her. She already imagined all the awful things that could have happened had he not stopped. Bryan never thought twice about the money. This was not a job to him. This was helping someone in need, and God knows there were plenty who had given him a hand in the past. He had lived his whole life that way, and it never occurred to him to act any other way.

He told her that if she really wanted to pay him back, the next time she saw someone who needed help, she could give that person the assistance they needed, and Bryan added, "... and think of me." He waited until she started her car and drove off. It had been a cold and depressing day, but he felt good as he headed for home, disappearing into the twilight.

A few miles down the road the lady saw a small cafe. She went in to grab a bite to eat, and take the chill off before she made the last leg of her trip home. It was a dingy looking restaurant. Outside were two old gas pumps. The whole scene was unfamiliar to her. The cash register was like the telephone of an out-of-work actor-- it didn't ring much. Her waitress came over and brought a clean towel to wipe her wet hair. She had a sweet smile, one that even being on her feet for the whole day couldn't erase. The lady noticed the waitress was nearly eight months pregnant, but she never let the strain and aches change her attitude. The old lady wondered how someone who had so little could be so giving to a stranger. Then she remembered Bryan.

After the lady finished her meal, and the waitress went to get change for her hundred dollar bill, the lady slipped right out the door. She was gone by the time the waitress came back. The waitress wondered where the lady could be, then she noticed something written on the napkin under which was four $100 bills. There were tears in her eyes when she read what the lady wrote: "You don't owe me anything, I have been there too. Somebody once helped me out, the way I'm helping you. If you really want to pay me back, here is what you do: Do not let this chain of love end with you."

Well, there were tables to clear, sugar bowls to fill, and people to serve, but the waitress made it through another day. That night when she got home from work and climbed into bed, she was thinking about the money and what the lady had written. How could the lady have known how much she and her husband needed it? With the baby due next month, it was going to be hard. She knew how worried her husband was, and as he lay sleeping next to her, she gave him a soft kiss and whispered soft and low, "Everything's gonna be all right; I love you, Bryan."

There is an old saying "What goes around comes around."

ATTITUDE

by enigma » Fri Nov 19, 2004 11:37 pm

An elderly carpenter was ready to retire. He told his employer-contractor of his plans to leave the house-building business and live a more leisurely life with his wife enjoying his extended family. He would miss the paycheck, but he needed to retire. They could get by. The contractor was sorry to see his good worker go and asked if he could build just one more house as a personal favor. The carpenter said yes, but in time it was easy to see that his heart was not in his work. He resorted to Shoddy workmanship and used inferior materials. It was an unfortunate way to end a dedicated career. When the carpenter finished his work the employer came to inspect the house. He handed the front-door key to the carpenter. "This is your house" he said, "my gift to you."

The carpenter was shocked! What a shame! If he had only known he was building his own house, he would have done it all so differently.

So it is with us. We build our lives, a day at a time, often putting less than our best into the building. Then with a shock we realize we have to live in the house we have built. If we could do it over, we'd do it much differently. But we cannot go back. You are the carpenter. Each day you hammer a nail, place a board, or erect a Wall. "Life is a do-it-yourself project" someone has said . Your attitudes and the choices you make today, build the "house" you live in tomorrow. Build wisely!

Remember... Work like you don't need the money. Love like you've never been hurt. Dance like nobody is watching.

Question to God:"What surprises you most about mankind?"

And God answered:

"That they lose their health to make money and then lose their money to restore their health. That by thinking anxiously about the future, they forget the present, such that they live neither for the present nor the future. That they live as if they will never die, and they die as if they had never lived..."

SUCCESS

by enigma » Fri Nov 19, 2004 11:45 pm

A young man asked Socrates the secret of Success.

Socrates told the young man to meet him near the river the next morning. They met.

Socrates asked the young man to walk with him towards the river. When the water got up to their neck, Socrates took the young man by surprise and ducked him into the water. The boy struggled to get out but Socrates was strong and kept him there until boy started turning blue. Socrates pulled his head out of the water and the first thing the young man did was to gasp and take deep breath of air.

Socrates asked "What did you want the most when you were there?" the boy replied "Air".

Socrates said "that is the most secret to success. When you want success as badly as you wanted air, you will get it. There is no other secret."

Abraham Lincoln was elected to Congress in 1846.
John F. Kennedy was elected to Congress in 1946.

Abraham Lincoln was elected President in 1860.
John F. Kennedy was elected President in 1960.

Both were particularly concerned with civil rights.
Both wives lost a child while living in the White House.

Both Presidents were shot on a Friday.

Both Presidents were shot in the head.

Now it gets really weird........

Lincoln's secretary was named Kennedy.
Kennedy's secretary was named Lincoln.

Both were assassinated by Southerners.

Both were succeeded by Southerners named Johnson.

Andrew Johnson, who succeeded Lincoln, was born in 1808.
Lyndon Johnson, who succeeded Kennedy, was born in 1908. :) :)

Do you feel the same?

by enigma » Sat Nov 20, 2004 10:15 am

Do you feel the same?

- To laugh until it hurts your stomach.

- To find mails by the thousands when you return of the vacations.

- To manage for a vacation at some pretty place.

- To listen to your favorite song in the radio.

- To go to bed and to listen while it rains out.

- To leave the shower and find that the towel is warm.
- To clear your last exam.

- To find money in a pant that you didn't use since last year

- Calls at the midnight that last for hours.

- To hear accidentally that somebody says something good of you.

- To wake up and realize it is still possible to sleep a couple of hours.

- To hear a song that makes you remember a special person.

- To be part of a team.

- To feel butterflies! in the stomach every time that you see that person .

- To see people that you like, feeling happy.

- To use a sweater of the person that you like and it still smells of their perfume.

- See an old friend again and to feel that the things did not
change.

- To have somebody who tells you that he/she loves you.

- To laugh .......laugh........and laugh ...... remembering stupid things by stupid friends.

Angel!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

by enigma » Sat Nov 20, 2004 11:11 am

Once upon a time there was a child ready to be born.

One day the child asked god "they tell me you are going to send me to earth tomm but how am i going to live there being so small and helpless?"

God replied,
"Among the many angels, i have chosen one for you. She will be waiting for you and will take care of you""

But said the child"tell me here in Heaven i dont do anything else but sing and smile that's what i need to be happy

God said
"Your angel will sing for you every day. And you will feel your angel's love and be happy".

And said the child" how am i going to understand when people talk to me, if i dont know the language that men talk?

Thats easy", God, Your angel will tell you the most beautiful and sweet words you will ever hear, and with much patience and care, your angel will teach you how to speak"

The child said" I've heard on earth there are bad men who will protect me?"
God put his arm around the child, saying
"Your angel will defend you-even if it means risking life!"

At that moment there was much peace in Heaven but voices from earth could already be heard.

The child in a hurry, asked softly, "Oh god if i am about to leave now please tell me my angel's name

God replied, "Your angel's name is of no importance......you will simply call her MOMMY!!!!!!!!!!!!! :) :)

Life

by enigma » Sat Nov 20, 2004 6:09 pm

A young woman went to her mother and told her about her life and how things were so hard for her. She did not know how she was going to make it and wanted to give up. She was tired of fighting and struggling. It seemed as one problem was solved, a new one arose.

Her mother took her to the kitchen. She filled three pots with water. In the first, she placed carrots, in the second she placed eggs, and in the last she placed ground coffee beans. She let them sit and boil without saying a word. In about twenty minutes she turned off the burners. She fished the carrots out and placed them in a bowl. She pulled the eggs out and placed them in a bowl. Then she ladled the coffee out and placed it in a bowl.

Turning to her daughter, she asked, "Tell me what do you see?" "Carrots, eggs, and coffee," she replied. She brought her closer and asked her to feel the carrots. She did and noted that they had gotten soft. She then asked her to take an egg and break it. After pulling off the shell, she observed the hard-boiled egg. Finally, she asked her to sip the coffee. The daughter smiled as she tasted its rich aroma, and then asked, "What's the point, Mother?"

Her mother explained that each of these objects had faced the same adversity- boiling water - but each reacted differently. The carrot went in strong, hard and unrelenting. However after being subjected to the boiling water, it softened and became weak. The egg had been fragile. Its thin outer shell had protected its liquid interior. But, after sitting through the boiling water, its inside became hardened. The ground coffee beans were unique, however. After they were in the boiling water they had changed the water.

"Which are you?" she asked her daughter. "When adversity knocks on your door, how do you respond? Are you a carrot, an egg, or a coffee bean?"

Think of this: Which am I?
a.. Am I the carrot that seems strong, but with pain and adversity, do I wilt and become soft and lose my strength?

b.. Am I the egg that starts with a malleable heart, but changes with the heat?
Did I have a fluid spirit, but after a death, a breakup, a financial hardship or some other trial, have I become hardened and stiff?
Does my shell look the same, but on the inside am I bitter and tough with a stiff spirit and a hardened heart?

c.. Or am I like the coffee bean? The bean actually changes the hot water, the very circumstance that brings the pain. When the water gets hot, it releases the fragrance and flavor.

If you are like the bean, when things are at their worst, you get better and change the situation around you. When the hours are the darkest and trials are their greatest, do you elevate to another level? How do you handle adversity? :) :)

lessons

by enigma » Sat Nov 20, 2004 6:23 pm

First Important Lesson...

During my second month of college, our professor gave us a pop quiz. I was a conscientious student and had breezed through the questions, until I read the last one: "What is the first name of the woman who cleans the school?"

Surely, this was some kind of joke. I had seen the cleaning woman several times. She was tall, dark-haired and in her 50's, but how would I know her name? I handed in my paper, leaving the last question blank.

Just before class ended, one student asked if the last question would count toward our quiz grade. "Absolutely," said the professor. "In your careers, you will meet many people. All are significant. They deserve your attention and care, even if all you do is smile and say "hello."

I've never forgotten that lesson. I also learned her name was Dorothy.

*

Second Important Lesson.... "Pickup in the Rain"

One night, at 11:30pm, an older black woman was standing on the side of an Alabama highway trying to endure a lashing rainstorm. Her car had broken down and she desperately needed a ride. Soaking wet, she decided to flag down a passing car. A young white man stopped to help her, generally unheard of in those conflict-filled = days of the 1960s.

The man took her to safety, helped her get assistance and put her into a taxicab. She seemed to be in a big hurry, but wrote down his address and thanked him. Seven days went by and a knock came on the man’s door. To his surprise, a giant console color TV was delivered to his home. A special note was attached. It read: "Thank you so much for assisting me on the highway the other night. The rain drenched not only my clothes but also my spirits. Then you came along. Because of you, I was able to make it to my dying husband's bedside just before he passed away. God Bless you for helping me and unselfishly serving others.
Sincerely Yours,
Mrs. Nat King Cole

*

Third Important Lesson... Always remember those who serve you.

In the days when an ice cream sundae cost much less, a 10-year old boy entered a hotel coffee shop and sat at a table. A waitress put a glass of water in front of him.
"How much is an ice cream sundae?" he asked.
"Fifty cents," replied the waitress.

The little boy pulled his hand out of his pocket and studied the coins in it.
"Well, how much is a plain dish of ice cream?" he inquired.

By now more people were waiting for a table and the waitress was growing impatient.
"Thirty-five cents," she brusquely replied.
The little boy again counted his coins. "I'll have the plain ice cream," he said.

The waitress brought the ice cream, put the bill on the table and walked away. The boy finished his ice cream, paid the cashier and left.

When the waitress came back, she began to cry as she wiped down the table.

There, placed neatly beside the empty dish, were two nickels and five pennies. You see, he couldn't have the sundae, because he had to have enough left to leave her a tip.

*

Fourth Important Lesson... The Obstacle In Our Path...

In ancient times, a King had a boulder placed on a roadway. Then he hid himself and watched to see if anyone would remove the huge rock.

Some of the King's wealthiest merchants and courtiers came by and simply walked around it. Many loudly blamed the King for not keeping the roads clear. But none did anything about getting the stone out of the way.

Then a peasant came along carrying a load of vegetables. Upon approaching the boulder, the peasant laid down his burden and tried to move the stone to the side of the road. After much pushing and straining, he finally succeeded. After the peasant picked up his load of vegetables, he noticed a purse lying in the road where the boulder had been. The purse contained many gold coins and a note from the King indicating that the gold was for the person who removed the boulder from the roadway.

The peasant learned what many of us never understand. Every obstacle presents an opportunity to improve our condition.

Fifth Important Lesson... Giving When It Counts...

Many years ago, when I worked as a volunteer at hospital, I got to know a little girl named Liz, who was suffering from a rare and serious disease. Her only chance of recovery appeared to be a blood transfusion from her 5-year old brother, who had miraculously survived the same disease and had developed the antibodies, needed to combat the illness.

The doctor explained the situation to her little brother and asked the little boy if he would be willing to give his blood to his sister.

I saw him hesitate for only a moment before taking a deep breath and saying,
"Yes, I'll do it if it will save her..."

As the transfusion progressed, he lay in bed next to his sister and smiled, as we all did, seeing the color returning to her cheeks.

Then his face grew pale and his smile faded. He looked up at the doctor and asked with a trembling voice, "Will I start to die right away?"

Being young, the little boy had misunderstood the doctor, he thought he was going to have to give his sister all of his blood in order to save her.

You see understanding and attitude, after all, is everything :) :)

verbal wounds!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

by enigma » Sat Nov 20, 2004 6:31 pm

There once was a little boy who had a bad temper. His father gave him a bag of nails and told him that every time he lost his temper, he must hammer a nail into the back of the fence. The first day the boy had driven 37 nails in to the fence. Over the next few weeks, as he learned to control his anger, the number of nails hammered daily gradually dwindled down. He discovered it was easier to hold his temper than to drive those nails into the fence.

Finally, the day came when the boy didn't lose his temper at all. He told his father about it and the father suggested that the boy now pull out one nail for each day that he was able to hold his temper. The days passed and the young boy was finally able to tell his father that all the nails were gone.

The father took his son by the hand and led him to the fence. He said, "You have done well, my son, but look at the holes in the fence. The fence will never be the same. When you say things in anger, they leave a scar just like this one. You can put a knife in a man and draw it out. It won't matter how many times you say I'm sorry, the wound is still there. A verbal wound is as bad as a physical one. .

Today being my birthday would want to post something nice about LIFE!!!!!!

1. Life is beautiful, you just have to know how to see the beauty, even in the smallest things.
2. Life is musical, you just have to know how to listen the rhythm, get the beats, even of the wind.
3. Life is pleasurable, you just have to know how to find the pleasure, even in the worst of your time.
4. Life is joyful, you just have to know how to enjoy the coming moment.
5. Life is an unlimited treasure, you are not going to get everything, not going to loose many things either. So, whatever you get, receive it with full of your heart.
6. Life is a journey, not a race. Don't make competitors, make companions.
7. Life does not have fixed ends. So if you have to say or do something good; don't wait, nobody knows, when it be the time to say goodbye.
8. Life is a bank, whatever you are going to put in your account you'll get in return with interest. Depends on you, whatever you invest. It could be happiness or sorrow.
9. Life is not a matter of prooving things. Proofs can never be greater than existence . Try to exist something new in you rather than proove something you already have.
10. Life is simple, smooth and sweet, It is only we have complications in our mind.
11. You can't run away from life because you are a part of it. Accept it. A working part is always better than a seized one.
12. Learn to think beyond the logic. Life is not based on it. It based on beauty. Just think about the beauty first and logic will come automatically to your way.
13. Don't try to understand life, try to feel it.
14. Keep open your eyes, ears, mind and heart. Life is going to teach you newer things every moment, every second.
15. Every morning, make one commitment to yourself - Today I am going to live life to it's fullest and going to be happy.
16. Awareness is life, ignorance is death.
17. Don't try to stand high on the basis of Money, Power or Approaches but on Pleasantness and love. You are not going to loose them until you want.
18. Best of us comes out in the worst of times.
19. Keep patience, everything, every situation, every time has an end.

People are crazy, at times are strange. I am locked-in tight, I am out of range.
I used to care, but things have changed.
