God created only sex, not marriage

God created only sex, not marriage:

When human being definef marriage, to satisfy his instinct of "possession", it created havoc.

Nature gave the required wisdom for females to choose a mate for sex, so that they give birth to healthy and high quality children, so that survival of spices encouraged. Concept of marriage is totally against to this, and hence sooner or later, as it can't win against nature, marriage doesn't survive!

OK.. we will go with your assumption that people created marraige, The fact is when you marry someone you basically pledge your gene pool to that person. Right? In some ways arranged marraige process or falling in love process lends itself to the "Theory of natural selection" interpretation. I dont think you can deny that. In arranged marraige people check your pedegree, the family antecedents, the way you walk, how smart you are, every little detail. I think it is "Natural selection" at work. When you fall in love you get attarcted to a person who in ways kind of replaces the holes in your gene pool. "natural Selection" at work again. How else would you define it.

If Marraige were to be a human phenomenon. Why do the bottle nosed Dolphins choose mates fo life? Why do some rare bird species choose mates for life ? If marraige were to be a human phenomenon how would you define these assocaitions.

On the contrary, we have the seven year itch theory. Which I think says men and women tend to become promiscuous in cycles of Seven years where every seven years there is an urge to contirbute their genes to a different gene pool. (I recall this very vaguely and please dont ask me for proofs. I just wanted to thow this out there FYI. )

Any comments ?

yes God created sex and not marriage ... but he also gave us a bigger BRAIN so we can create whatever else! thats what distinguishes us from the animals, BTW!

According to some scientist ( dont ask me who! i get all this from Discovery :D) humans have the tendency to commit because of ceratin hormones that are released in our body when we're in love... also then they go on to saying that love is a psychological disease because it causes the body to funtion abnormally blah blah. So what they were trying to say is certain ppl elicit certain chemical reactions in our brain. this characteristic is also seen in ceratin kind of hamsters. ok i'll stop here without any concrete data all this is just babble.

hey Asli, any take on why specifically seven years and not 2 or 3 or ...5?
I dont suffer from insanity, i enjoy it !

So how soon IUO is this 'sooner or later'?

Also can you explain how survival of human species is threatened by marriage?

I beg to disagree, we are animals too, just a different kind. The kind that can think on a totally different plane. Sometimes I think we complicate things by creating unnnecesary bonds, yet for some reason I agree with the concept of marraige. I have yet to come to terms as to "why marraige?".
Also, Size of brain has got nothing to do with our moralities. I think the animal world is a far more civilized place than what we humans have created. But they dont have the concept of marraige. They live by rules and maintain harmony and peace with nature. But we... we have gone far beyond that. So is having a bigger brian good. I think... Sometimes ignorance is bliss.

SpyGlass: I think we grow in cycles of Seven years, When we are 7 we begin understanding and grasping things, by 14 we are having our first crushes, and emotions, by 21 we become sexually active or marry. I guess every 7 years we change as a person and when that happens we yearn to be with new people. So on and so forth, do you see the numbers7,14,21... I dont know this for sure, but I am just putting it out there.

Basically, Love is natures way of fooling us to beleive we are ready for intimacy. Everybody exists to procreate and perpetuate the species. If for some reason we are not doing that, the body(i.e. the brain) does weird things to make you do it. I dont know where marraige fits into this picture. May be it was conceived to preserve intermixing of gene pools by our elders. I dont know, but it is a custom unique to a very few species in the world.

Spyglass: Here is reason for a bigger brain.

Early humans swapped bite for brain

-----------------------------------------

18:00 24 March 04

NewScientist.com news service

Humans owe their big brains and sophisticated culture to a single genetic mutation that weakened our jaw muscles about 2.4 million years ago, a new study suggests.

The slack muscles relaxed their hold on the human skull, giving the brain room to grow. Other primates remained stuck with mighty muscles that squeezed the skull in a vice-like grip.

The finding is "pretty amazing", says Peter Currie, an expert on skeletal muscle development at the Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute in Darlinghurst, Australia: "Changes in muscle anatomy are well known to alter the bones to which they attach. The exciting part of this is the mutation in the gene dates to exactly when this transition occurs in the fossil record."

Over the past 2.5 million years, human brains have grown enormous compared to those of other primates. Human brains are now roughly three times the size of those of chimps or gorillas.

One possible reason is that changes in the environment forced early humans to invent tools, and those with the biggest brains had greatest manual dexterity, which led to yet more sophisticated tool use. Alternatively, selection may have favoured larger brains because they permitted more complex cultures.

But why did this process occur in humans and not in other primates? According to Hansell Stedman, an expert on muscle disorders at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, it was a simple mutation in a gene found in our jaw muscles.
