Can a colleague be a good friend?

I\'ve just begun working and I was wondering about this. How many have found \"friends for life\" in your colleagues? Is it possible to be really good friends with someone in your professional environment?

Well don\'t be worried. Many of us pick up our friends from our school and our neighbourhood, and when we start working it is but natural to have friends from the work place. I am proud to say that after several years of work, 90% of my regular friends are from work. It becomes difficult to keep up with your childhood and school friends when you move out. So go ahead and make friends from your workplace.

Of course, yes - as you tend to develop a rapport with them... But don\'t forget the fact that colleagues sometimes could be your worst foes on earth (if you have to work in a team and if there creeps up the issue of ego). Anyway, have fun!

from my work experience (of 3 years).. i realize u can have good friends at work.. but didnt have the luck to find a best friend at work. so i am tempted to say, u can be friends only so much with ur colleagues. so hang on to ur school/college friends.

buddy... I never said that I cannot find good friends at work... I intended to say that we may also find the worst adversaries at work (sometimes)if we happen to work in a team... Have fun!

Yeah I have begun making friends. But I\'m still cautious and I think thats healthy. Simply bcoz as much as I\'d like to ignore it there is that undertone of prof competitiveness with some of my colleagues. I\'m not saying all, just some. With my limited experience I think its best not to get really close with a colleague... I guess I\'ll be in a better position to judge as time goes by...
