While discussing the Vegetarian thread I made a sweeping statement..

wut exactly is halal meat? I kinda know that its about the way you slot the animal.

Halal is when you say a muslim prayer and cut the goat's wind pipe.. let it die and HARAM(opposite of HALAL) is any other method of killing. Like chopping the animals head clean off using mechanical devices or anything else.

The above is what it comes down to stating HALAL/HARAM in a very politically incorrect way. But hey its the truth! World is not all Rainbows and Virgins...

Come to think of it are there any VIRGINS left in the world or can we declare them an extinct species. Let me start a thread for this..

1. SO ARE THERE ANY VIRGINS LEFT ?

2. When I said VIRGIN you immediatly thought women.. why has it only got to be a WOMAN why not MEN preserve themselves for their wives?

From the time I could think independently... I see virgin as a woman. Maybe I was told thats what a VIRGIN is. Maybe I was fed that but never the less I see it that way..



Suppose you were asked to pick a picture of a VIRGIN.. what would you pick a woman or a man... I rest my case.

For guys:

1. There is no way to detrermine if you are a VIRGIN. So I guess you have to go by their word. Which is not a tried and tested method. Guys even if you raise hands nobody would beleive you. So keep your damn hands down.



I think GUY virgins are those... I dont have to say this... Lets put it this way. They werent on the first bench when the 10th class Biology lesson about Sexual organs was going on. Guess which bench I was sitting...



For girls:



1. Medically Virgins - This is the holy grail. Not sure if they still go for this method of cheking. This means.. You know what I mean.



Have you guys seen "Joan of Arc:The Messenger". It was funny cause the nun goes down on Milla Jovovich and declare she is a VIRGIN. I mean come'on. That changed the world for me.. I started beleiving in SANTA again.



2. Raise hands Virgins - Women who raise their hands when they are asked if they are virgins. Go figure..



It is a tough question and I dont trust people who raise their hands to say

they are VIRGINS.

We indians are so bloody uptight... I went to a show in Boston and the stand up comedian there was talking about so many taboo topics so openly. Dont tell me that only happens in US. Dont make me talk about things that happen in India... mean sick things. I mean come-on people we Hyderabadis need to grow up. Talk about it... laugh it out and let it go.



Virginity is something we have to address and it is not pathetic.. You know what we need to talk about which is pathetic...



1. We find the Mother-in-law stepping into the bedroom on the first day after wedding night to find blood on the white sheets. I mean come-on.. this is ridiculous. The movies all show it as if it the ID ka chand thing. If you have blood then you know your son has become a man and you have found a good girl. People.. for all you know that ass must have bloodied hudreds of sheets and paid for it. And for all you know the girl must have broken the tissue while cycling. Nobody knows.. so why be so hung up on it.



2. Men looking for Virgin girls. This men might have taken a hundred and one virginities before thier marriage but when they want to marry they want a VIRGIN. This is pathetic...



3. If a woman goes out of the house to work. They are called virgins no more as they could have done anything outside. (This might be an extreme point never the less I have heard it).



4. Men marrying girls of young age beacause they are VIRGINS.



5. I would like to hear from you... add to this list your experiences.



and many more... thats what I think is pathetic..

no u r wrong there. the ritual is more to chk if the girl was a virgin or not and in case blood was not found, god save her! many traditional families still follow this terrible and demeaning custom.



nothing happens to the guy even if he's impotent or sterile...childlessness is simple blamed on the poor girl. as an extention, the wife is "blamed" for giving birth to a girl whereas in reality its the man's contribution that determines it.



sex education being in such a pathetic state in India, very few know what goes on, how n where and still rely on old wives tales abt sex, puberty, child birth, virginity etc. it being a taboo topic of discussion too doesnt help. more than the schools, its the parents who have to take initiative to educate their sons n daughters about the birds and the bees...



proper sex education is the best way to change mindset of the people in this matter.



if proper sex education doesnt happen, the only source of (mis)information left for kids is porn...while the poor parents convince themselves that their kids are not interested in such things...
