i'll say its yes and no.

Yes, coz hyderabad is populated by people from diverse cultures from all over india and the world too. all of them enrich the culture of hyderabad.

No, coz many hyderabadies have not changed their mindset to a cosmopolitan one.

for a city to be called 100% cosmopolitan, the mindset of the people shud also be cosmopolitan.

but the good news is, the change is happening and it is visible

Hey ctrlaltdel

What do you actually mean by Cosmpoliton :?:. I think Hyderabad is in news more often for anti social activities. And also the youth doesnt bother to take up responsibility? The worst case is the traffic. The condition of traffickars are worsening day by day . With all these do we need to say that Hyderabd is a Cosmopolitan City. I dont think so..........................

Is Hyderabad a Cosmo?

by Haunting Hyderabad » Thu Dec 29, 2005 7:22 pm

I think Hyderbad is not at all a cosmopolitan city. It is just a cluster of many villages. There is nothing special here except biryani, pearls and Charminar. Here people are very conservative, illmannered and no social awareness. There is no social arena one can freely indulge in.A few call centres and software swings,Sonia Mirza,Nagesh kukunoor can't make it a cosmo. Hyderabad has to go a long way.

Wrong. I am living proof of that :P :D

TULASI2050 wrote:GIRLS DON'T KNOW HOW TO DRESS UP.
It is changing. Pretty soon, we may be on par with Bangalore and Delhi, in terms of girls wearing low-rise jeans, etc, and in terms of eve-teasing cases.

TULASI2050 wrote:I HAVENOT SEEN EVEN ONE PERSENT CULTURED PEOPLE. tHERE IS NO STYLE
Maybe you need to go out a little more. Does FHites make 1% of Hyd? Then you got more style than you can handle.

tchey. all the while i used to think hyderabad was the city of nizams. on the other hand, were u refereing to lucknow by nechance? :P

I dont knw many cities in india that are not cosmopolitan. the sheer diversity of the people in India makes ne city a cosmo city. As for being tradional, well, its something that differentiates one city from the other and its necessary too coz otherwise there wont b ne fun in visiting other cities.
People are crazy, at times are strange. I am locked-in tight, I am out of range.
I used to care, but things have changed.

What? Hyderabad not emerging into a cosmo?

I have friends all over Hydbad, Gujjus, Tamilians, Kannadigas, I am Maharashtrian... the list can go on..

I do not know why you guys don't like this city. It is one of the best, I have lived in different cities in the world, but none so warm and welcoming as this..

What does it take to be a Hyderabadi?

1. Irani tea in the morning at 10 (When you wake up ;) )

2. Show up at work late.

3. Speak in Hyderabadi tongue. (This is easier said than done. )

4. Call anything in the past as Parsun (day before yesterday.)

5. When you go to a restaurant check for Biryani, Lassi and Haleem first.

master these first and ask any of us what it is to be a Hyderabadi... we will tell you more..

Cosmo

by dude in ToWN » Tue Jan 03, 2006 3:27 pm

If you disregard the word cosmoplitan and think of the mag cosmo, hyderabad=cosmo if

>it makes you feel like what you look like is more important than who you are

>it is sexually compatible with other metropolitans

>gossip is rampant

>Headline news is about what ex criminals and film stars do.

so i dont see how or why we can't call hyd cosmo, by the standards of the magazine, it seems pretty cosmo to me. as far as teh word is considered, a non-cosmo city cannot have some of the world's biggest corporations setting up tent.
