laptops in Hyd

by marko » Tue Oct 12, 2004 6:24 pm

hi guys just wondering how easy it would be to get a good laptop in Hyderabad? and about how much would it cost? last time i was out in Chennai it was practically impossible to find good good consumer electronics. however i now hear they have wi-fi in Egmore station  , so maybe there's more on sale now?

i'm not looking for a top spec $3000 thingy, but it'd be nice to get something with DVD rw, mobile pentium, and a fair heap of ram. and a nice large screen. and maybe a decent video drive.

and how much would a desktop machine with the above be in Hyd?

i'm considering buying a laptop coming through duty-free tomorrow, i need to be talked out of it perhaps :)

ps if anyone likes western ciggies PM me (no worries Mods i won't sell them therefore not illegal activity) . my alcohol allowance will be full however :D

I dunno about the laptops in hyd but the last time I checked the model which you asked for isnt available. My old laptop which I sold it in hyd got spoiled when I was on a vacation and they couldnt repair it because that model wasnt available in Hyderabad nor India (It was a HP pavillion with P4 2.8,4X DVD-RW,512 MB RAM,80 GB HDD and it had Wifi).So I had to get it repaired in US and then send it back  .So my suggestion to you is to get the laptop in UK. :D

tch tch! the jackal commits such a mistake! You should've known HP is nothing but money sucking losers. I am anti-HP, their machines suck, their printers take too much ink (most expensive of all consumer used printers), *Ugh* for their brand.

I am going to get a laptop for my bday soon (or later on if there is a sale), looking into Toshiba or Sony.

Well everyone makes some mistake or another :P (I got the laptop because it was the best laptop during that time and it was really cheap).HP printers may be expensive but I like their quality.I think toshiba makes the best laptops but they are little bit slow in releasing new products.Sony Vaio's are awesome but they are way too expensive for the configurations they give. :D

Dells are just small and expensive, the configuration which I got for my HP was like $1000 more expensive in Dell.

On topic, you should be able to get a decent laptop for around 40K ($800 approx.) but it won't be a branded one. You can also get used laptops in good condition for around $500. Let me know if you need some more info.

anyone lookin to SELL a laptop? with half decent config? Dont need a v high end one...just 256 RAM, 40 G, Celeron/P3/AMD will do, 1.6 Ghz n above?

Just chkd at Chenoy trade centre and this config costs abt 35-40k, but with a VIA processor. But since my budget is 35-45, being forced to go for a desktop with better config. :-(

To the dude lookin for MP3 players, Singapore Bazaar and Chenoy trade centre (both near Paradise) are decent places for non-branded stuff. If u prefer quality-warranty stuff, goto Tirumala Music Centre (TMC), which is next to Bottles and Chimney pub, on Airport rd.
