Fish Medicine - How fishy is it???

by Ajju » Thu May 20, 2004 1:01 am

Hullo everyone!

I've been a passive member of fullhyd from sometime but something in the papers on wednesday made me pick this up. It was abt this fish medicine administered by the Bathini brothers. It has been raking up a comtroversy every year. what makes it more interesting this year is the request to have the fish supplied free of charge(like 6 bucks are not being spent by any other way) and the fact that the person to whom the request is directed and has to take the decision - our new CM is a doctor by profession.

Some of the interesting aspects brought out in the article were very thought -provoking. It has not been proven scientifically that someone has actually been cured completely(if not only) by the fish medicine. People have blind faith and nobody has ee\ver questioned as to y the medicine works only when administered by a person from a particular family on a paricular day only. Also, as mandatory for other drugs, the fish medicine's composition has never been revealed. In fact a criminal case can me whipped up under a Magical Cures Act (or some similar act).

The murrel fish being used has also become endangered due to the frenzied harvesting.

It remains to be seen as to Dr.CM will go in favour of the free fish or no fish medicine...

ya...there is an Act that book charges aginst persons offering miraculous magical cures, but its rarely implemented.

before implementing them on Bathini Bros., it has to be used on the "Lame Shall Walk and Blind Shall See" circuses that happen yearly on Gymkhana Grounds... :D
