WILL INDIA BE RENAMED BHARAT

by bhattathiri » Sat Apr 10, 2004 11:54 am

The Samaja Vadi party manifesto emphasise that India should be renamed Bharat. This is a sentimental issue and they have got much political advantage on this issue.

Releasing the SP's election manifesto here today, the party president and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister, Mulayam Singh Yadav, said the name of the country had been Bharat since time immemorial but the British changed it.

Due to some unknown circumstances after Independence, the makers of the Constitution gave prominence to the word `India,' starting their work with the mention of "India that is Bharat." This was a mistake that had to be corrected, he added.

All a political game. Poor innocent voters are helpless for this great Tamasa

India / Bharat

by Happy Hyderabadi » Sat Apr 10, 2004 12:20 pm

Welcome Scholar "bhattathiri"!

Another Scholar identifies "India" with the Urban Areas or Cities of the Country to distinguish it from "Bharat", identifying the Villages or Rural Areas of the Country ... The Cities as well as the Villages Supplement and Complement one another: The Villages Strengthen their nearby Cities and Towns; the Cities help Advance the Villages around. The Politicians, unfortunately, are interested only in Themselves. And disenchanted,if not disgusted, "India" goes abroad; disillusioned "Bharat" remains behind!

NRI / PRI / PRB ...

by Happy Hyderabadi » Sat Apr 10, 2004 4:36 pm

"India" is for Export ... eg NRI - Non-Resident Indians OR Non-Red Indians :?

"Bharat" for the Stay-Ever-At-Home ... OR PRI/B - Permanent Residents of India ie Bharat! We are "Bharatiyas" or "Bharatiyans" 8) ... better ... "Badbadiyans" hearing our Legislators' High-Decibel "Discussions" / "Galabhas"
