Hyderabad's favourite newspaper??

Quite an interesting topic! We should not have racial feelings. But I still have a complaint over Deccan Chronicle. It has a tendency to insult Tamilians and Keralites time and again. I find it hard to believe it is a South Indian newspaper. The Times of India is okay. But we dont like the pungent smell of Delhi(north = giving importance to Northern culture). Hindu is monotonous, but still with Southern flavour.

DC is a favourite for potty reading. The Hindu editorials are a must for stimulating your grey cells. The Times of India is trying to strike a balance between the two.So it is the paper that you can safely clutch on to without being looked down upon by an intellectual sounding peer and still get your regular dose of crappy masala.(which means you can read it on the potty and safely carry it to work as well)

DC... well.. its a tabloid...Hindu.. good editorials and to the point news.. but of late, very biased. The Times.. something between DC and Hindu(well... more DC than Hindu). so considering everything.. i would go for TOI (Times of India).. of course... if i need to find out which movie is running in which theatre.. i would pick up a DC anyday.. :)

Whatever happened to Newstoday ? (published by Eenadu group). It was an awesome paper. Had everything from local news to comprehensive Global News to Environmental, Consumer News items. It had a daily photo feature on the last page. It was too good to be true.

Hey, I think Times Of India is the best as of now. It is a balanced one. A good mixture of all kinds of news. Have u checked its printing quality?? I think it leaves all other newspapers behind.

Dear Vrinda, you people will never try to change - Times of India absolutely has no local flavour. It always has the tendency of being in Mumbai or Delhi. For example, in yesterday\'s paper it tried to insult the good old actress Rekha (by mentioning her origin), while trying to show Amitabh Bachchan as a great person in the same news bit. You know people hate these sections just like anything. Sitting and shitting in the South, these guys try to undermine the South. Don\'t u feel different?

Hey, I particularly feel that TOI is the best paper in Hyderabad in terms of both entertainment and enlightment. You just have to look at the Sunday edition to justify it. The Hindu is good in its own right but it has news which are usually so detailed that busybees find hard to cope with it + it has the tendency of imparting the news of Chennai only. I do not wish to talk about DC since it is pure junk material.

I have my own views: The best Newspaper (focus NEWS) is The Indian Express... (called New Indian Express). Chornicle is the best local ally. Hindu is conservative yet high quality features, esp. on science and technology. Times of India is a rag tag.

Hyderabad's favourite newspaper??

by sharath reddy » Tue Mar 04, 2003 10:23 am

well well well... i ain\'t givin the answer, but really wonder if this question was asked by Shanthamma or Shakunthala. i bet there wouldn\'t be these many answers, haha!!! really wonder if name has got so much to do on the net - neways, as ur intrest and moods say that u r always interested in skimmin those stale 2 pages which are dedicated to society\'s taboo, DC is never second to none, and if ur really lookin for an intellectual round-up of news then Hindu!! no idea about TOI, it wasn\'t really there in circ when i was in Hyd. neways a question good enough to gauge whether Hyd\'ees are inclined to skimmin up news in newspapers or if they get carried away by the glossy stuff in the NP... phew!!!
