Value of an Indian Soldier---who's responsible for this ?

by N » Fri Feb 07, 2003 9:08 am

From one of those FWD emals\'

Spare a moment for this thought please!
I am not against Indian cricketers or Cricket...
but thought that this mail is worth fwding....
After loss against NewZealand, India is back to
normal with people still
hoping for a miracle. In a way it was good that we
lost and people now have come out of their craze for arguably most overrated,
overpromoted and overpaid team and are paying attention to real
issues.
There is a war on in kashmir and india has lost 51
soldiers and officers during last few weeks.
They are fighting at a height of 17000 ft. It is -5
to -30 C in inclement weather there. The intruders, 80% of whom are pak
army soldiers, are at the top of mountain and our brave soldiers are actually
climbing those mountains with rope against the fire.
Some figures that may shock you:
An Indian air force flight leiutanant is paid Rs.
1200 flying allowance per month and he is supposed to make 40 sorties in aging
Migs. That is about Rs. 25 per sortie after taxes. If he dies his family
gets paid Rs. 2 lakh.
The man of the match in any World Cup team gets 3000
pounds, about Rs. 2.1 lakhs.Besides the hefty match fees, our crickters
rake-up crores in sponsorship deals.By not signing the ICC contract
fully, they have put in jeopardy about 9 million dollers BCCI is supposed to
get from ICC for development of cricket facilities in India. All this
still could be tolerated if they perform well consistantly.
When flying over Kargil at 18000 ft he is just 1000
ft above intruders armed with american stringer missiles and can easily
be shot down. Yet, they do it. Nachiket who returned from Pakistan
captivity will be back for action this week. And they do this for whom?
A person in Bihar has offered 111 coconuts and
intends to offer 10001, yes ten thousand one more. A large corporate and BJP
local unit offered prayer at Sidhivinayak temple and distributed prasad.A
youth in Gujarat is on fast. No, none of the above is for Indian soldiers, its
for India\'s win in World Cup.
You,I am sure are aware as to how important is life
of a US marine. If 5 of them lose lives, all newspapers in US cry as if
world war has started. There are stories of their families and how they curse US
government. Fl. Lt.Ahuja was killed in cold blood and he was cremated by his
four year old son. The head line in Times was about India\'s win over
England.
And our team can not make 4 runs in 7 balls against
Zimbabwe. And people in India or Indian people across the world still worry
about their performance.
We, the intelligent educated elite have failed this
country. The least Indian cricket team can do is win the game against
pakistan and send all the reward and match fee to army relief fund.
The least you can do is forward this mail to every
Indian.

I totally agree with you N... Really, we shud wake up and take notice of all the brave soldiers who r dying just like that .. unsung and unheard...and these heroes endorse products, live a life of king, and are able to carry it out very easily... without even winning games, which is expected of them... And the thing about US lamenting about their soldiers.. i too think that v can take a feather or 2 out of their books... really they value their soldiers\' lives so much.. and even if a dog dies there its like a national grief!!! and here... huh?
Well, there cannot b one single person shouting from rooftops and changing people\'s minds... eveyone shud take up this task of wakening up the indian spirit... i hope boarders take notice and forward this as N says.

But ofcourse ! N, what u say totally right. We have our country in one piece, of whatever is left, is just because of our BRAVE soldiers. The borders are protected by them. in all kinds of weather.. being in hyderbad, away from the borders, we feel that much more secured, a sense of false security..
you shud see any of those bordered villages/towns and cities bordering our country.. the immense amt. of patriotism that wells up in us seeing them.
why go all the way, u go to our own hyd. army areas.. all around. U will find very young soldiers working away in the very early mornings.. while we are asleep in our warm beds. Whenever I pass them, I salute them for being there and get such a wonderful bow and a smile back !! THEY ARE OUR PROTECTORS as u rightly said but paid paltry sums. Shame on all of us.. including me.. for not having brought this up in our discussion earlier.

India is safe because of our army. We have to fight for the rightful and much earned higher pays for them. There are no borders protected, there is NO INDIA !! We have our country to get back to, with open arms, always. No other country would do that to us other than our motherland. and our motherland is safe only because of our fauji bhai. jai hind! jai bharath !!

Value of an Indian Soldier---who's responsible for this ?

As one great General said, \"We all can speak freely on our land because our soldiers work hard on our frontiers without opposing their leader\'s command, our people feel the right to burn the flag - the same flag that the soldier considers the soul of our nation, we run around wearing the blues, reds and whites while the soldier wears green, orange and white in his mind at all times\". Some of our cricketers have gotten it so far up their bottom holes that they not only have little respect for morality and financial ethics, but never fail to show up on a television commercial when they get a chance. What part of the revenues they collected have they ever donated to a noble cause - the plague 10 years ago, the quake in Ahmedabad a few years ago, the annual floods that take place on our homeland, or to help the deteriorating India. But to this, we - the viewers should be held accountable. Well, who has the time to fight these crooks right? Thanks for a good post.

\"Kashmir Pandits Killed\". was the headline for a few hours, then Politicians condemned the attack, then Advani went, then compensation was announced, what next ? no headline and eveyone will forget abt it until the next killings. what is the value of an Indian soul ? My friends ask me \"Why isnt the Indian govt doing anything?\" what should i answer ?

But one point Mr N, Even if Indian soldiers are suffering in ice mountains, there is no dearth for crowd in BRANCH RECRUITMENT OFFICES for employment as a sepoy. You know unemployment is more dangerous than ice montains especially in country like India

hey N, very good board...something that made me think...actually, i got this mail long back...we all should do something for our country and for the brave men who r protecting it. Donating money for Kargil and earthquakes is not enough. People die when they don\'t see their hero\'s movie on the first day...if they can b sooo selfless for some movie hero, they can b more useful for the country. We must stop worshipping cricketeers for no reason and start backing up our brave soldiers and let them have a better life with good pay
If the doors of perception were cleansed, everything would appear to man as it is - infinite.
