Hyderabad - our history

We all as Hyderabadis are undoubtedly proud of our Hyderabad - a mesmerising city of pearls unique in all its forms with rich and famous traditions, culture, cuisine, hospitality, etc...etc.. The present young generation gets only a little to hear or read occassionally about the exemplary lifestyle of our ancestors who are believed to have lived in an era which is commonly regarded as GOLDEN - the period until the time the city was taken over by the Indian government. Appreciate if you all could post your own accounts about the recent history of Hyderabad - lifestyle, customs, freedom, employment, marriages, education, social gatherings, law and order etc..etc.. The so called thousand times better indian/AP govt which u adore so much is taking pains, spending lots of money, time and resources to keep alive the old cultrure and monuments.

Being modern is not necessarly forgetting our past. For ex, you dont need to wear a pant and a shirt to wrtie complex computer algorithms, u can do the same wearing a kutra-pyjana or a dhoti.

I humbly request to understand the correct meaning of modernism.

he should not have used the word preindependance. this is highly silly in indian arena.those people who have got the independance late has also the brains working slow.so take more vegetables and less biriyani.OK??

I was delighted to know that Hyderabad still enchant people quite far of
places. The love of the city and their experiences they had with the city no
matter how much you write is never complete. While this forum is still in
its infancy and may attract more HYD lovers in future, I would like to share
some of the silent history HYD concept was based on. It was all started
during the period of the Quli dynasty, when the Golkonda was found to be not
enough to house the expanding urbanization of that time. The rulers thought
of a independent planning team whose only brief was to search for a place
virgin in content(unhabitated by any ideological landmarks) and with all the
required natural resources around. In other words an idea of paradise was
floated to search for a location. The planning team was comprised of men of
scholarly background and diversive ethenicity. It took quite a long period
of hardwork,and finally when it was identified it really was befitting a
place equal of a paradise. The present HYD metropolis is now among the few
cities of the world in which multi-ethnic community life is still
flourishing with all its peace and glory ever since its founders(Quli
dynasty)to its saviors(Nizams) and finally to its present patrons who has
showered all they can to maintain the HYD\'s heritage for the future
generation to carry on the good works required to keep the love of city
paramount.
