My roomie still smokes in the evening.. is it a hard and fast rule?

if he smokes during the fasting period, his fast wont count. if after breaking the fast, like u said evening.. then its ok.

There's another guy I know who fasts during daytime and goes out to do 3somes after ifthar. Whats the point in fasting if he's going to resume his filthy lifestyle?

I heard that getting a 3some is a piece of cake. And he's not lucky.. he's just a hypocrite without any morals. If he's not changing his lifestyle by fasting during the daytime, he might as well keep away from fasting.

I do wonder what a valid 'reason or need' would be to have a second wife? Okay can you answer this for me pelase? Are Muslims allowed to get divorced? If not then that can be a reason I guess.

You don't need to have polygamy these days. So what if the man is wealthy enough or the wife infertile?? It is inhuman to go for a second marriage unless there is abuse or cheating by one or both of the spouses.

But the man with multiple wives must treat them equally, not favoring one over the other. Keep them happy, financially and emotionally. Its no cake-walk marrying several times, you know.

What if the woman says does not want a divorce even if she's infertile, and yet the man goes ahead and marries another woman? Well, many marriages happen this way because if the (first) wife objects to a second marriage, she'll get thrashed by her husband.

The man shouldnt divorce a woman because shes infertile to begin with. He can bring home another wife, why does he need to divorce the first one?



The Amish are polygamous, and the law cant do anything about it. So a Muslim American can do the same, I think. Im not sure though.

Blind faith is okay upto a point. But when it interferes with society and causes suppression of certain categories of people (like women), something has to be done about it. Or else you'll end up like the Saudi women who can't even vote till today. What if your husband comes home with a new chick? Will you tell her "Well, polygamy is allowed, welcome to the family"?
