I think a Judicious Mix of Both Should be Followed.Some serious and thought-provoking posts should be ably supported by some ligh hearted banter and some fun n frolic.
After all a Discussion Board cannot only Survive Solely on Serious Stuff neither as it can't only on Fun N Frolic.They both are Complementary to each other.
Alas,I preach here what I don't practice! But I will cease to be the kinda person I am if I Start Play-Acting.Sure,there'll be no dearth of serious posts or intense Discussions but I somehow feel that they'll be to few & far in between.Meanwhile We Do have Serious Posters Like DQ Anna,HH saar,Enigma,AkhilBhai,HP saar and others who Definitely add Value to the Discussions here.
On the other hand there are Specialists in Niche posts like Jasz,Jackal,Sherry,Daisy and others who offer their valuable insights into their own expertise areas.
And then there is Me,A Potent Mix of Both but Surely Biased towards the Latter
And Oh Yes,There's the Allrounder CAD. He's the One-Size-Fits-All Type
(Funny Analogy!! Don' Mind CAD
)

I agree with you Chittaranjan, we need to strike a balance.Boards are a medium for expression, everyone is free to express what he/she thinks and feels. What should be avoided are unnecessary spam, targetting people etc.

No.That would be outrightly defeating the whole purpose of creating sich an exorbitant and overwhelmingly long judicious and an inanimate post which takes out every ounce of the energy that is being accumulated all throughout the day in the b*m as i sit infrnt of the biege box called the pc which gives mee the freedom to roam the inherently chaotic and multitudiosly mediocre but vehemently interesting world of the cyberspace and if i donot indulge myself in such creative pursuits then the whole trivieal existence of mine will be coming under the scanner of many culturally ethnic and socially diverse people as the members of this DB are right now.
