Can you tell what animals reproduce / give birth by laying egss and what animals without them, as in giving babies?

most of the reptiles, birds and amphibians lay eggs, from which the babies hatch
and most of the mammals give birth to young ones
and there are exceptions for both the cases,
like, there are a few snakes which give birth to young ones, and a few mammals which give birth to an embryo (marsupials)
by the way, why this question?

forgot to add fish, to the egg laying ones.

well, this info is just about the higer animals ie, chordates

Well theres a much more simpler answer to it.

All those animals that have ears protruding, i.e that is showing out give birth.

All those that have hidden, not showing lay eggs.

There is a similar answer to what is permissble to be eaten and what is not. Only that if I tell that, people will start blaming me for islamisation of the boards.

Now this is interesting, are the two of you arguing this, I mean debating it?

Do you consider the fact about the ears, not true?

Just a query ?

No no! You completely misunderstood me, DQ. I said it was an interesting way to look at it. I never thought to examine ears to figure out the animals way of giving birth. Im not debating or arguing.

Ah ahem... Well I have my own doubts. A doubt is a doubt because its so close to truth dude.

Anyway the story goes thence.

Imam Ali (a.s.), (The only person in recorded history, who called upon people to ask anything about the heavens and earth and he would answer).

He was going to the mosque for prayers and two mischevious people planned that they will ask a difficult question and delay Imams Prayers to the stage that it gets Qaza (donno the meaning of this, means overdue but cannot explain.).

So they thought about it and asked this question thinking that Imam will stand and name / count all the animals. And his simple answer was this.

Donno if this incident is recorded in Nahjul Balagha, but there is much more information, Just google Nahjul Balagha and you will find quite a few Online copies.

I still dont understand, how is dog any different from cow, pig, deer, rabbit, hen, peacock, snakes etc?

Its just that we are not used to look at dogs as food. Its just a cultural thing, dont you all agree?

it reminded me of this dialogue from My cousin vinny

Vinny: What about these pants I got on? You think they're okay? Oh!
Mona Lisa: Imagine you're a deer. You're prancing along. You get thirsty. You spot a little brook. You put your little deer lips down to the clear blue water.....BAM! A _' BULLET RIPS OFF PART OF YOUR HEAD! YOUR BRAIN ARE LAYING ON THE GROUND IN LITTLE BLOODY PIECES. Now, I ax ya. Would you give a _ what kind of pants the son of a bitch who shot you was wearing?
