...Chennai is a veggie's paradise and that city has a vegetarian culture. u find great veggie food anywhere in india for that matter.

hyderabad is better known for non-vegetarian food, tho u get lotsa good veggie stuff too.

for visitors to india the thing to remember abt non-vegetarian food is hygiene. better stick to reputed restaurants and avoid road-side or smaller joints.

another thing...Indian non-vegetarian food is usually cooked well-done. u'd hardly get meat in "rare" or "medium" levels. and we like our meat all spiced up too...:P
wtf? i no longer care if my posts hurt yr feelings

But my point is that women who don't respect themselves like i do to me are Trashy Women, who wear revealing clothes, or just being plain Slutty.

I know I am going to ruffle a lot of feathers here, but I do not have an alternative. Before reading further please keep in mind that I am not targetting anyone personally.

It is not without reason that I expand NRI as Not Required Indians. Having spent so much time outside the country they lose touch with the ground realities in India. That is understandable. What is, however, unforgivable is that without any knowledge of how things work in India they make sweeping statements about the affairs of the country and what is wrong with it.

Not everything is in black and white. There is a huge grey zone between the two. The case here is prostitution. It is easy to say that they do it for wasy money and if they wanted a respectful life they could have chosen a more dignified way of doing that. Prostitution is one of the saddest things a woman has to go through. Nothing could be more derogatory to her dignity. Those who think that women do it out of choice, I suggest you do not eat for three days. You will then realise the sheer desperation that forces them to take this up.

I had been to a village in Rajasthan once during the peak of the Indian summer. There was no water to be found and I was dying of thirst. Then someone got me a glass of water that was muddy in colour - half of it was mud!. I drank it because that was the only way to survive. It is things like these that make you understand the sheer apathy of the unfortunate few.

It is very easy to make a statement from the confines of your comfortable living room. Reality is a lot more starking than that.

ur basing ur whole view on the prostitutes/prostitution just by watching a documentary?i dont think its that high a figure that was mentioned there, 98% of them being runaways n addicts.. ppl get into it mostly through sheer desperation to make ends meet, n certainly not many will enjoy it!

many of these females have families n children to take care of, lots of them are forced into the profession sometimes by their own husbands/boyfriends..what about them? - Azazel

No Im not bashing the hooker community by simply watching a documentary, rather, Ive become a stronger believer in what I already knew. Azazel, like I said, Im not aware of the prostitution scenario in India, but in America, they do it cause the government wont assist them if they want to go out and get wasted, thats why the only other way they will make some $$$ is by selling themselves.

Lower income families are eligible to recieve around $750-$800 a month if they are unable to make ends meet, but they have to fit certain critereon, such as: be clean and sober from drugs and alcohol, atlest make an attempt to get a job (with proof) and be able to show that you are poor. If only hookers didnt get wasted so much, they wouldnt need to 'forcefully' sell themselves.
Is that a pistol in your pocket, or are you pleased to meet me?

that cannot be case with the whole of them, i agree some women do stoop down to that level just to scrape enuff money to blow on their addictions.. and ive heard of cases where even college students engage in prostitution part-time to pay off their tuitions.. its very disgraceful.. but, the majority of the hookers are just desperate ppl from extremely poor backgrounds, the uneducated lot who resort to it because they dont have any other option..
