It's been a long time since anyone even talked about Amorphis. The earlier stuff had a slight Bathory-esque feel to it, but were very distinct nonetheless.

Fidd, sorry to burst your bubble, but I think Azazel just added another dimension to his musical plane. Calling him 'convert' ain't fair. SO, you go can go "purrraaaisse the laawwrd" when you actually find another Bakra. As far as the gig was concerned it was FAB!

Black Wiz, IMO "Mama Said" was one of the sveetest song to have ever penned down by any artiste. They felt that it was time to move on with their 'career', and explore other aural avenues. They made their own style and musical statement, and 'progressed' with time oblivious to public bantering. If this ain't "metal" then what else is? Also, Metallica, was the single most force which made 'Metal' mainstream. The very fact that, you even are able to access so many bands is bacause of 'tallica. Metallica defntly metal. Lars Ulrich was like a God to me 10 yrs back, and as far as I am concerned he still is to me.

Badcash_high(?!??!) - Do I see goregrind in your post? Now.. now.. get out of that Purgatory Bay and lets march under the Grind flag. Core/Crust/Mince/Splatter... whats your pick, boy?

I disagree!

You are trying to say that Sandoval, Abbath or for that matter even Hellhammer(!!!!!!!!) are > than Lars. What is your base for this? Just beacuse these blokes pound away at a scymrrffigngggly high speed (200-400 beats/min), and apna Lars anna at a measely 40 beats/min. Have you listened to "Nothing Else Matters"? If yes, did you pay enough attn to the drumming. Thats POWER frigging DRUMS maaaaann... and he has managed to actually blend it very well with the tempo of the song(which needless to say is sober and punch-drunk). Lars was born a drummer with raw talent(talent being the operative word here). Guys like Sandoval, Laureno slogged their ass off (they actually had to put in 20 hrs day for 4 mnths) and then be where they are right now. Most of these guys are actually gung-ho and continue with their one-dimensional trillll-trilll-trilllll-trilllll... satan-satan-satan... trillll-trillll-trilllll stuff and then fade away blissfully. Ofcourse, I am not trying to belittle anyone here. But, my point is that there is NO common ground for a fair comparison here.

whoa! dude dude dude!!!

that was just MY opinion. you dont necessarily have to agree with me...hell u dont have to agree at all!

NOTHING ELSE MATTERS is not my kind of song. i find it boring.

i'm happy listening to the "trilll-trilll-trilll...satan-satan-satan" songs.

but popke...can we compare LOMBARDO "the double bass bulldozer" and ULRICH? Thrash-thrash?

i just want to know what u think of LOMBARDO. Dont forget to take Testament's-THE GATHERING when u elighten me with your views on Lombardo.

Did u check out Laureno's drumming in that song...no blast beats, just the occasional double bass fill. man those crazy rolls and awsome cymbal work! the splash, the crash, the ride the friggin' hi-hat, those "cymbal rolls" dare i call them...?

plus the guitar sound rules!!! and the Egyptian theme fits into their sound perfectly!!!

I guess I missed this discussion :)

Not sure if anyone mentioned Megadeth - i'm sure they belong somewhere here. Also, Iron Maiden - not as 'metallic' probably - but great stuff and a lot more accessible.

Not much audience for the Classic Rock, Hard rock, Grunge / Alternative / Modern rock genres? Also, any gigs happening in town?
