...u r right! i have always maintained that starring/ogling or some common comments can be safely ignored. its harmless and means nothing.

OK... all three times, I yelled out. What else was there for me to do?

Growing up in a co-ed environment need not necessarily translate into 'healthy respect for the opposite gender'.

2 sides to it. I grew up in an all-girl environment (thats 17 yrs of my life!) I've seen some girls who go overboard when in mixed company.
They only end up cheapening themselves.

As far as the spitting is concerned it DEFINITELY HAPPENS. Its absolutely disgusting. Was on my 2 wheeler, behind a bus and saw someone spit right across. Was glad had not been overtaking the bus coz it wud have been a lousy start to my day.

I've seen that type too :-) I was in a coed while at school and then went to an all girls college. I met these girls who's never known life in a coed.

I'd still say that while being in the line of fire is disgusting, the fact that you were a specific target makes things a lot worse.

About a week back, my friend (karate-)Lata was going along a street when someone made a pass. She ignored it that day, and the next. But the third time she yelled back Sale agli baar agar kiya to itna peetoongi sab ke saamne ki mummy bhi nahi pehchaan sakegi, and walked off, ignoring some amused and surprised looks of other onlookers.

She still goes by the guy everyday, but he never gets any dirty ideas now ;-).

I be here.

Classes start at 4 am in the morning.

No men allowed ('cept me!)

Special emphasis will be on 'ways to escape bear-hugs' and 'sticky hand techiques'.

There was this incident when I was in Ahmedabad. Was going out of town on an official visit and on the way to the station, this guy on a scooter spat on my new pink linen shirt and sped away. I made the auto I was travelling on speed behind him and finally managed to catch him at a signal. That was it. I handed the poor thing a beating he'd never forget for the rest of his life. The sad part of the story was that the guy turned out to be a plainclothesman and I was promptly taken to the nearby police chowki for the pasting of my life.

Whenever I think of this incident, I can't help but laugh.

Advice for Arti...next time this happens, manage to note down the registration number of the scooter/bike that the spitter is riding. And lodge a complaint with yours truly straightaway. Not everyone will be a plainclothesman.

Mistake #1: Why did you wear pink? The poor spitting bastard must have thought you were a chick.

Mistake #2: In India, it doesn't pay to take small time criminals like this to the police station. Just beat him up and go your way if it happens again 8)

I assumed HP took him to the police station and then got to know that the spitter was a cop-in-disguise :D HP should have thrashed him even more and just left the scene. He would have been safe. Anyway cops always come after everything is over ;)

No...I beat up the bastard and he pulled out a bloody walkie talkie and called the nearest beat vehicle...which unfortunately was just around the signal.

And lonewolf....I threw the shirt away as it was paan stained...but a solid light pink linen shirt from Van Huesen is not something chicks would wear.

Dang! Just because he is a cop, the whole thing got reversed.. they think they can get away with anything.. which is unfortunately true most of the time :x

Oh man! I treasure my Van Heusen shirts and wear them only on special occasions. If someone did that to me (here in the US) I'd sue the bastard!
