Jury debates over Scott Peterson’s fate…

by Kimberly » Thu Nov 04, 2004 1:39 am

So the trial for the “husband from hell” is just about over. With the closing arguments complete, now we all have to wait for the jury to deliberate.

How does everyone feel about this case? Do you think he’ll walk or get what he deserves? Also – I’ve been told that the judge is only going to give a 2-hour notice once the jury has reached its verdict. We do have a cable TV in the lounge area here at work, so I’ve been setting it to Court TV to try and keep up-to-date. I even noticed on their website that you can get the verdict sent to your cell phone, which is pretty crazy (though I’m the only one of my friends without one yet!)

Personally, there’s nothing I’d rather see than a death sentence for this disgusting human, though life in prison wouldn’t be a bad 2nd option either.

This is a country where they let Bush win again. Also the country where they acquited OJ Simpson. If they let Scott walk, I wouldnt bat an eyelid.

Dang. I had been following the Lacy Peterson's case for long. I just never recalled that Scott Peterson was her husband. I hope that bastard gets what he deserves.

If he were Indian, the case would have either been flushed down the toilet or delayed over several years. There are quite a few families I know who are still waiting for justice :?

The site lacypeterson.com went down a few times and her relatives had to change website hosting providers because of the heavy traffic. Its nice to see that Yahoo has allowed them to host their site for free now.

The important thing in the tandoor case is that the "media" didnt influence either the judges or the public unlike in Scott peterson case. Here in US, scott peterson is like another osama bin laden thanks to media and the dumb, jobless american public who have no work other than follow stupid cases on cam and watch baseball games 4 days a week  .

The tandoor case was one of the very few cases in India where justice might have been meted out. How about the other cases where high profile people do all kinds of things and get away with it?

And dude, people here are neither jobless nor watch games 4 days a week.

Americans report to work on time (unlike Indians who always show up late) and even if there is a match going on, their primary focus is their job, because they know they'll get fired if they don't attend to their work.. In India, I don't need to elaborate what goes on in all offices if there is a cricket match 8)

I wasnt comparing American justice system to that of India. I am only comparing how a case was solved in India without media interference. Mind you, america has jury system which can be influenced, unlike India courts where they have a single judge or a bench hearing the cases.
I hate American media.... it keeps the people in the dark and every news source has its agendas and biases. Thanks to media, Scott peterson is already a murderer just like Saddam is evil and wanted to nuke US.
Funny thing is that lacy peterson is not the only pregnant woman who was killed. Last month itself another pregnant women was killed by her husband... and there are serial killers and maniacs on the loose in US. there are 1000's being killed in Iraq, yet media religiously reports the insignificant developments in scott petersons case (scott peterson dyed his hair, scott was wearing a polka dotttted underwear, he made sex for 10 min 25 seconds with his ex gf etc etc) and not mentions a single word about those killed in Iraq or anywhere else.

And dude, people here are neither jobless nor watch games 4 days a week.

sure, thats why there are nearly 20 pro-baseball teams (which play almost 160 games as season at 4 games/week, full attendance), 36 NFL teams, nearly 40 NBA teams, and equal number of NHL teams and countless other pro teams playing zillion games, some of which u might have never heard of... all having full attendences and dedicated fan following, and oh add the college teams to it and you do the math. Whos watching them play?

yeah, show me an american who works past 5 or show me anyone who works after 2 on a friday. u been to any govt offices in US? forget govt offices, u been to emergency wards of any govt hospitals? Well, I've been to one and seen them work. I waited 4 hrs in an emergency ward and still was not treated.
I can show 100's of Indians in US sloggin in offices on sundays. Funny innit, Indians are in demand even if they show up late

You're right about the American media.. they tend to exaggerate day to day incidents and make them look like something real big. The European media is far worse in that aspect.

Yeah, I know about some crazy American fans who fly far distances to support their teams. But I was referring to the general cross section of people.. Americans and most of the western countries in general can afford to goof around because their economy is stable.. Third world countries like India get hooked to cricket too (just like in the UK) but India cannot afford to have its government servants stay away from work.

yeah, show me an american who works past 5 or show me anyone who works after 2 on a friday. u been to any govt offices in US?

I am not saying American employees are any better or worse, but they at least have a time frame.. and yes many run away early on Fridays. They at least finish their work for the day.. I don't know any of my colleagues who have come in late unless there is a strong reason.

forget govt offices, u been to emergency wards of any govt hospitals? Well, I've been to one and seen them work. I waited 4 hrs in an emergency ward and still was not treated.

Sorry about that dude :( Yours was a rare case. I have been in quite a few states so far and the emergency service was excellent in all of them. Have you not tried to sue that hospital? You can at least pay off your tuition fee with the money! :)

I can show 100's of Indians in US sloggin in offices on sundays. Funny innit, Indians are in demand even if they show up late

Hahaha  Thats what I call exploitation of Indians (whether in India or outside India). My supervisors (Indian and American) know that Indians are willing to come to office even on holidays (maybe to suck up to them or whatever reason). They tried to get me to work on weekends too.. well I refused. No work no pay, and no pay no work :D They'll get pissed.. so what?? They will not dare to ask the Americans or even other Asians like Chinese..

In India, I don't need to elaborate what goes on in all offices if there is a cricket match 8)
