theoretically, what's been suggested on the board is very much possible. If you really look at it, both INC & BJP are two sides of the same coin. The very liberalisation that the BJP was pooh-poohing during the PVNR govt. became the foundation for "Feel Good". And congress did launch a soft hindutva campaign in the Gujarat Assembly pools in 2002 as it was a hot topic then. So, ideologically, not much separates the two. The point is....since both parties have occupied centrestage in the parliament, and both are power hungry, how long would such an alliance last? Especially when there is a third front thats much closely knit than anytime in the last decade. Indian politics is not all that easy to comprehend.

And talking about Vajpayee's statesmanship....how can you call someone who contradicts himself so much a statesman? I lost all respect I had for him after the Gujarat riots. A true champ at doublespeak he is. If I were in his place, with the kind of power Brand Atal holds in India today (the election results notwithstanding), I would never succumb to Sangh Parivar pressures the way Vajpayee did. What kind of a statesman is he when he can't keep bigots like Togadia and Modi in check? Shame Shame!!
