ya...the only time i felt congress was winning was when i saw BJP losing ground in Gujarat! now lets see how the center deals with Modi. The point is....since both parties have occupied centrestage in the parliament, and both are power hungry, how long would such an alliance last? And talking about Vajpayee's statesmanship....how can you call someone who contradicts himself so much a statesman? I lost all respect I had for him after the Gujarat riots. A true champ at doublespeak he is. If I were in his place, with the kind of power Brand Atal holds in India today (the election results notwithstanding), I would never succumb to Sangh Parivar pressures the way Vajpayee did. What kind of a statesman is he when he can't keep bigots like Togadia and Modi in check? Shame Shame!!

To top the hatred, the campaign was vitriolic to say the least. Many sane heads lost all respect for the BJP there and then itself. I mean where does Musharraf figure in the Gujarat state govt.'s scheme of things? But Modi's campaign was one of a Hindu v/s Muslim colour.
