You cant reduce your weight

by peeping tom » Sat Feb 28, 2004 9:15 pm

Some poor guys keep on trying with low calorie diets ,jogging etc. But still they have good paunch(belly). The science says about the Gene mutations leading to change in hormone levels like LEPTIN in the body leading to marked obesity.

So over weight guys, dont go for crash dietings and starvation. You cant reduce your weight below some level. Obesity may be because of your genetic mutation probloms.

Atleast try to avoid the weight reducing powder/diets sold for Rs4000/- to Rs 10000/-

Peeping tom bhai, what are you saying? ok, let's talk science. I agree that there are genetic reasons due to which some are more prone to be obese than the others. (Your 'leptins' etc.)

This does not mean that all their weight reduction efforts would fail. Reducing weight is a simple math. If you burn more calories than you consume, you end up burning accumulated body fat (tummy and other flab) which results in slimming and reducing weight. Low calorie diets help in taking in lesser calories, whereas jogging etc. help in burning more calories. You can't write off these two vital things citing genetics.

But yes, the safety of these diets need to be ensured so that there are no costly side effects. e.g. the low calorie sugar supplements like aspartame (brand names: Equal, Sugar free etc.) are known to cause harmful side effects (http://www.dorway.com) I dont even know what other low calorie foods exist. Best is to consume natural low calorie food, and minimize intake of sugar and fatty food.

And, let's burn them calories..................

Anything in life, without real interest will not work out for a long time.

In certain Gene mutations( changes) taking place in normal genes (given by god) especially in poor over weight guys, the following story happen. He eats much. Then eats further. But still his Hypothalamas(sensor in brain) does not get OK STOP EATING signal. So Mr Obese eats further with hungry . Mr Obese eats further and further. One fine day Mr Poor Obese guy decides to reduce weight. He reduces diet with enormous hungry still left. He buys new shorts. Jogs / Runs. The poor Obese guy runs with extreme Dyspnoea( difficulty in breathing) He suffers this daily difficulty. He continues for 5 to 6 months. Loses 4-5 Kgs.

But you know he does all these things against HIS BRAIN'S NATURAL ORDERS. So out of difficulty one fine day decude to Relax. Eats out of his own interest. Have a good sleep in afternoon and morning. Once again gain weight to the tune of 6-7 Kgs in next 2 MONTHS.

You know enormous research is going on in countries like America.

I say in next 10 years OBESITY will also be accepted by the society as an endocrine disease just as Diabetes and prpperly planned scientific tratment will start. I hope I will get opportunity to work in thosr projects.

Obesity is already recognized as an epidemic in the world's two fattest countries: USA and Australia.

Such recognition wil take time to come in India coz most people do not view fat or obesity as a disease.

a big paunch is considered a sign of prosperity! Fat people are called "healthy"! Fat kids are termed cute n adorable.

nobody realizes that fat is the biggest cause of fatal diseases.

we have to change the mindset of the people first and sadly IMO this would occur only if every other house-hold has some heart patients or diabetics...just as it happened in US and Australia.

ctrl bhai, being fat and being obese are two different things. The later cuases health problems. Obesity is rare in Indians and highest among americans (1 in four children in US are obese).

Tom, what you said about obese people is right. They dont know when to stop eating. The only remedy for this is to make the brain realize that the stomach is full. There is extensive research going in this field and many guinnea pigs are being starved (CCMB has a patent for these obese guinnea pigs). The results are good, but this is not the best solution. There is an alternative.

The alternative is to let the obese person eat all he wants and alter the digestive system so that nothing is digested and everything is excreted as is. This is the best solution. A Italian scientist has found out that a small electric pulse of specific frequency when given to the intestine/organs stimulates the organs and makes the person to go to potty frequently. This way the food is not digested and is excreted. the results are good, a 300 pound woman lost around 100 pounds in a week. This procedure requires implanting electrodes inside the body, and the associated circuit to generate the pulse, by surgery. However there is a problem - the power supply. This procedure requires a rechargeable battery to be implanted inside the body and it needs to be recharged every few hours. So after the surgery the patient will have two wires coming out of his body, which needs to be plugged into a socket

Efforts are on to replace the current system with a bio-implantable remotely charged circuit. This system is to be used on extremely obese people only and needs a surgery.

Mr obese

by Peeping tom » Tue Mar 02, 2004 5:26 pm

Hi, You know the term poverty in plenty. The diabetes patient in fact more than enough cells in Pancreas to secrete insulin. But the problom is the cells are not sensitised or Inert , So Mr Diabetic has trouble using his own insulin.Sulfonylureas(the Medicines-scientifically approved) activates insulin secretion and so action of Insulin also. Lets come to obesity.

Now a new hormone getting more and more importance now a days is LEPTIN.(It is a good hormone given by god just like insulin to decrease appetite and increase energy expenditure)

Mr obese has more amount of this hormone but in inactive state.

I say the time will come even the street side medical shops in ( may be in Mount road, Triplicane) will start selling some drugs to induce these hormones . Hope for the best for Mr obese.

I dunno abt harmones, but the Remotely charged Bio-implantable devices are in advanced stage of development. The one with wires are already being implanted with good results, but this surgery is recommended for extremely obese people - 350 punders - who are at a risk.

Diet Your Life!

by Happy Hyderabadi » Sat Mar 20, 2004 4:14 pm

Thinners, Fatters and the Obese!

Please note all:

One's "Decay" starts from around the Age of 25, by which time one gets ones Strengths / Weaknesses.

Beyond 25 one gets living as well as loving Spouses / Family and then the "Growth" takes over ... say much like the Annular Rings of Trees, about 1 inch or 25 mm per annum. From a slim 25 in Waist one sports a portly 40 in by the age of 40. From a 25(Y) - 25 (W) - 25 (C), ie 8) , one gallops to 40 (Y) - 40 (W) - 40 (H), ie  or :x or

So what one needs is a "Maintenance Dosage" of 1000 to 2000 cal per day. One should seek and follow the advice of a Nutrtionist / Dietitian rather than that of "Doctors", whose focus is on Medication / Surgery. Of course, Active Life helps!

:D :D :D

Obesity??

by Johnny » Sat Mar 20, 2004 5:21 pm

Hey all... Well I do agree that Obesity is a genetically routed diorder to some extent ( eg. The Raj Kapoor Family). But more than that, it also depends on what kinna lifestyle one is leading.

Take my example for instance : I was always a very physically active guy playing games like football cricket and also into karate et al. I never visited a gym. So the result i am fit and fine or rather say i woz fit and fine and in da shape.

But lately i have reduced my physical activities due to some academic commitments ( oh how i hate these..) . So i slowly realised dat i am losing ma perfect V-shape. I got so crazy and decided that by the end of 2004 i wud get a perfect V-shape. lol lets see if that wud happen. Pray for me gals ;)

Well my point finally being extreme obesity which occurs due to some hormone disorder (which cud be genetic again.) need medical attention and treatments, but just because u get plumpy and fat due to the lifestyle u lead u need not lose hope... u can still get ur perfect shape in the most natural way.. i.e control diet ( i mean EAT but eat healthy food) and include some good amt of physical activity in ur daily routine rather than sitting in front of the comp 24 hrs..( no offence meant..:) )
