Hyderabadi culture

by Kings » Sat Apr 12, 2003 7:33 pm

I wish to know more about the culture of Hyderabad (not the culture of the old days but of the recent times). Why don\'t Hyderabadis dont enjoy like North Indians? Why are Hyderabadi guys and gals so dull? And many other things...

Well King or Kings (whatever...)
A nice way of trying to get some response to your posting (just rub someone on the wrong side and behold.... the responses just pour in).
BTW, it is HYDERABADI and NOT HYDERABDADI! So, to start with, we take enough care about what we say, what we write and how we SPELL. We seldom rub anyone on the wrong side. Now, that might be boring for some. But hey, that\'s just us! And we are in 21st century and do I need to remind you the age-old adage that what is food for one is poison for another! Meaning to say, what is \"enjoyment\" for people of other parts might be just plain immaturity and frivolousness for us.

Your Majesty, let me take the liberty of waking H. E. Highness from your royal stupor.

Royalty and subjects have different ways of entertainment. There is just no comparison between North and South, we are different and have our own way and would like to remain that way. How boring would that be, if all are same.

Your are stretching your imagination far by saying we are dull. Other Hydies give my a helping hand, this should not go unchallenged.

Let me share my experience of the Hyderabadi culture in whatever I have learnt in the past 3 months. I think Hyderabadi culture is unique in its warmth, acceptence and reciprocation. The people here are genuine and a little aggressive(a good sign). And in no time I have felt as if this place makes people love it and own it with a sense of possessiveness. There are soooooo many things here to do and cherish and experience and still there is something new and exciting to be discovered with each person you meet. And people here are lively and spirited. So Mr. King you better watch out before saying anything unpleasant about \'our\' hyderabad :-)

In your dictionary enjoyment is for arrogance. In Hyderabad people are polite and gentle, unlike the arrogant selfish, racial places like delhi.

Thank you for the gracious words about hyderabadi culture. It takes time to be assimilated in another culture and to know it. And in reply to popesmokesdope, since when has the temperature of a place a part of it\'s culture.

What Anil said is abs right - these are desperate attempts to get some postings on this board. Tried something different. Anyways, let me tell u one fact abt North India.

North India includes UP(contributes to 17% of our popolation) and Bihar (contributes to 11% of our population) ...more than a quarter of the population is from these two states... but there r hardly any ppl from here who have done India proud!! Wash these two states from India, and India will be a developed country...

A sincere request to every Hyderabadi! Lets defend anything and everything that\'s Hyderabadi BUT let us also not indulge in bashing other people (whatever is their ethnicity, or state or anything else). I guess that\'s what makes us a true Hyderabadi. Our motto has always been live and let live. There could be numerous \"Kings\" and \"Queens\" (or whatever) questioning us, our beliefs and what we stand for, or may simply indulge in mud slinging. Let that not make us lose our composure! Difference of opinion can still be expressed effectively BUT lets do it in a real civil fashion (lets not give Kings (and his clan) any chance to smirk now that they have blown a hornet\'s nest!

Interestingly, enjoyment is not alien to us.We dont enjoy like North Indians do because we are not North Indians. We are Hyderabadis. So we enjoy like other Hyderabadis do :P. I would think, chai biscuit in an irani cafe, traditional biryani, and sher o shayari are all ways of enjoyment, to name a few. Any thoughts??

Yaa!! Anil is right, let\'s not take on this guy. If we look at the first line of his post, \"I wish to know more about the culture of Hyderabad.\" He probably just didn\'t phrase the query correctly and ended the lines wrongly!! Let\'s give him a chance, I would love to see a response from him??!! He is new here and maybe he wants to enjoy just like back home. Let him explain how and what??!!

The people\'s thinking and the way they interact is the culture of a place. And being a Hyderabadi to the core, I am proud of the culture and love it as well.

I think on this board we are just beating around the bush claiming that who loves more. We love Hyderabadi culture because we belong to Hyderabad, we were born and brought up in Hyderabadi culture. If you see other parts may be you don\'t like their culture... some basic differences are there and it is natural. It is just rubbish to compare North with South or any part of the country, because what the North will enjoy (in whatever terms) the South cannot enjoy and vice versa. Taking the country as a human body, it\'s like comparing a human eye with the tongue. The conclusion is that everybody loves the place and culture where he is born and brought up... either it is the North or the South, but raising fingers on others is just bullshit. What if an Aamerican or Briton were to ask the creator of this board \'What we enjoy in our countries you (North) people can\'t...\'?
