Why are Australian Studies in demand these days?

by Tappebaz » Wed Oct 15, 2003 4:38 pm

Hi everyone! Can you all say something on this topic? Why has the trend of people changed to pursue higher studies in Australia instead of prefering, as usually, USA or UK? Is it that, USA has lost its value or people are revolting against it? I don\'t think Americans have started teaching students to defend themselves from Terrorists attacks or plans. Even after all this, I believe American and UK universities are much better than Australian. Or is it that Australia has come up in competition to America or UK?

May be because it\'s cheaper? And, Australian universities are also well recognised around the world.

Simple one line answer would be \'getting into Australia is probably easier than getting into USA or UK\'.

I asked the same question to a fresh Engineering graduate who wants to go to Australia to pursue higher studies. His answer:
<br>
<br>
Chances of getting a visa: USA 50%, UK 90% and AUS 98%
<br>
Permenant Residency: USA 7 yrs, UK ? and AUS 9 months
<br>
Part-time work is allowed in Australia both on and off-campus whereas in USA, only on campus.
<br>
One can earn about 12-14 A$ per hour from part-time work. Students are allowed to work 20 hours per week during semester and full-time during semester breaks.
<br>
This is what he had to tell me. Interesting information. I asked him how to get into Australia. Who to ask for information? Who are the consultants that do the leg-work for aspiring students? He smiled, asked for a free pan and then told me to look up at: http://www.idp.com. Or you may contact them in Hyderabad at the following address:

Yes, Ii agree with the point. Going to Australia is easier than USA or UK. but my furthur query is:
<br>
<br>
Are these jobs white collared??? What is the use if after getting such high-fi degrees you have to work in that way? Are the people only concerned with A$? And, one more point which Kulcha bhai made - Permenant Residency. Let me clear this. When you go on a Student Visa there is no law that you can apply for residency or employment. No university either in Australia or US or UK will entertain it. You do have to leave the country after your study period is completed and apply for the other visa later on.

How do students save money in Australia? By living in groups. 10 - 12 students in one Apt. Way too crowded. That\'s the only way you can save some money in Australia. Different scenario in US, worse in UK, but better than Australia.
May the Fries be with you!

Dear T, no need to leave the country. After completing the degree, if you get a job, it automatically entitles you to become a permanent resident.
