Indian Morons...

by Knot » Tue Aug 19, 2003 7:11 pm

Hey...its not me that called, folks. Its the whole world calling us names. Its a very simple test (a confirmation) and please be true to yourself...deal?!

You are a moron if you

- Honk (at potholes, signals, girls, anywhere)
- are not aware who has the right of the road at roundabouts and intersections
- are not courteous to others sharing the road
- are not aware that India has NO road network that is designed per International safety norms
- are a double Moron to use a mobile phone while at wheels
- are an animal to chew pan and spit on the roads
- blame it on others and take yourself to be a great driver
- assign the root cause to Government\'s inability to enforce traffic rules or just to Indian driving sense and yet smile
- donot understand a thing that is mentioned here and yet make imbecile reply posts
- know the rules and yet drive like others

So you see where they are coming from. Any which way we are \"Indian Morons\". Its very rude, I know....but its the truth.

I befriended guys from very poor countries and they are aware of the rules and the best thing is that they practice. Its quite an experience to drive there. You will understand when you see it for yourself....

GOD save us!!!

You have touched only one aspect (driving) of our moronic lifestyle! How about other aspects of day-to-day living?

I have seen many people degrade India in Public. That does not make them open-minded.

How are we going to improve if we don\'t discuss these issues in public? We must address these issues, educate people and must continue to strive to improve. It is very common in other societies and countries. Citizens take part in public debates, put forward their ideas, suggest improvements and work to achieve those goals and objectives in coordination with concerned authorities. What we lack is an interest to improve things. We wait for someone else to do our job. We are used to remaining silent and passive even when our basic rights are violated. There is nothing derogatory if we talk about our weaknesses, lack of civic sense and discipline. Believe me, if we bury our head in the sand like an ostrich, it won\'t do any good to any of us.

I wouldn\'t say our lifestyle is moronic. Certainly not!
I believe in \"Show me your Roads* and I will tell you who you are and your future\" (* Roads as in quality and road sense of the users).
Its beyond my understanding as to why the politicians have left this field untouched, literally for well over 50 years. A small factor of correction / improvement would mean a huge political mileage.
I am not really myself, until my folks return home in one piece. I am sure many of us share this feeling.
Isn\'t this one of the reasons\' why NRIs (desperately) try and survive where they are?! (because I can tell you, there is no big money making potential nowadays) ;-)

Hey, I totally agree with you in the sense that traffic sense in India is non-existent. Closer home, Hyderabad is a wonderful city to live in but when it comes to riding/driving it\'s a hell. I recite the Gayatri Mantra while riding! The fact that more and more people can afford a car is probably adding to the problem. The flip side of good quality of life/high standard of living, some may say.
Whether you think you can, or you think you can't, you are right.
