When will we have 'Made in India' tag in the international m

We in India boast of having highest technical manpower in the world. We have world class prestigious institutes such as
IITs, IISc, IIMs. which are of high standard internationally. Today we churn out 250,000 engineering graduates every year !

We are a Nuclear power country, we are doing well in Space technology, we are launching satellites, we say we have rocket technology, we say we are one of five select nations in the world to have Satellite/Space technology.

But why is that we could not manufacture a simple motor bike/scooter for our own market ( leave about exporting )?
We are dependent on \'Hero-Honda\', \'Bajaj-Yamaha \' etc. How many millions must be going as royalty to Japan? for their
technical design assistance.

Why we couldn\'t make a car in India with 100% \' Made in India\' tag. ( If I am correct Indica is not 100% made in India. It uses
foreign collaboration for its engine) How long we need to add Japanese names for their technology assistance/transfer.

What it takes to manufacture a car or bike . Its only a IC engine? Is there no one to manufacture an 100% IC engine in India.

Why we are we not able to manufacture a Camera film role? Whole nation is dependent on FUJI, KONICA or KODAK.
What these film contains? Why are not able to manufacture a simple film role?

Why is that we are not manufacturing Cell phones in India. How is South Korea making them?

How is that small countries like Thailand are exporting more shrimp than India ?

Why is that there is no \'Made in India\' tag in the international market or in India in the areas such as Cars, motor bikes, Cell phones, air conditioners, vacuum cleaners, VCRs, Video cameras?

Why?

Hi Ravi, who said Indian tags are not there in the international market? Indian stuff, especially textiles and spices, are very costly and scarce in West African countries / the Gulf region... Anything from India is costly in comparison to brands of of other countries. So we certainly do have a great share.

Hi Neeraja, I am not talking about spices, textiles, papads, dosas. I am wondering why we are not able to manufacture cars, bikes etc. with out colloborations? inspite of having vast technical manpowe reserves.

\"Made in India\" tag is for manufacturing dude. We already have a prestegious unofficial tag \"Served from India\" tag!. Lets be happy with that.

Don\'t reinvent the wheel man. Having a desi band for bikes and cars would not be econimical. What is happening today is the best. These JVs would pump in a lot of resources. Besides India is a cheaper destination for production also, so international manufacturing firms are setting bases to serve this side of the planet. This is a welcome sign. Lets not go after Made in India tag. There is so such thing called \" Made in America\" either!.

Comparing Ravi\'s observation and Vivek\'s response, both are relevant to a large extent.<br><br>

A compromise could be worked out and India needs to achieve the position it truly deserves with its immense potential.<br><br>

I believe Indians in India are too much politicized - less of politics and some honest politicians will take her to the position she richly deserves.<br><br>

God bless us with some honest political leaders.

Do you know that Bajaj exports autos, largely to S. American countries, and stands first?!! But frankly, we can\'t beat the Chinese in manufacturing atleast in the near future. I hear many Indian people in industry say, \"If we ask an Indian to cut a 10 mts rope into 10 equal parts, he will give you a 0.99 + 0.99 + 1.01 + ..., but a Chinese will give you 1 mt * 10 . I think this has to do with attitude - we haven\'t struggled as much as the Chinese did for a livelihood, and seems like many Indians take things for granted... Chalega Re. I hope things will change. Nahin chalege bhai, just look at the Chinese goods and the Chandi Chowk goods, the difference is the quality. Both are duplicate, but the Chinese duplicate goods don\'t compromise on quality.
