hi! All the places listed by sharon are in Kerala. You can check out allkeralatours.com wherein u can go thru the hill stns, beaches etc in kerala. There are suggested itineraries which offer you a variety of tours(ayurveda, short tour, backwater tour etc). You can also check out tourskerala.com wherein they have a bookingform which has a no. of places listed where you can choose whichever u want 2 see, and just submit... They will be back with an itinerary and other details... MUST see places are Kovalam which is 15 km frm Trivandrum (capital city), Munnar (tea plantations-TATA), Thekkady (wildlife sanctuary). You can come down 2 Tvm, do sight-seeing and stay in a hotel in Kovalam(there are many budget hotels in and around kovalam) & enjoy the beach. There are a lot of ayurvedic resorts too...
And yes, to enjoy the backwaters of Kerala, you must take a ride in a houseboat. There are types of accommodation in a houseboat. These rides are avlble in Allepey, don\'t know how far it is from Tvm... Let me find out...
I have also heard abt a place called Kuttanad in Kerala where farming is done below sea-level... But don\'t know where exactly... Anyways, will try to get u more info. Bye.

Hi! 72km frm Tvm is Kollam, frm where you can take a boat trip to Alleppey (the most sought after tourist activity, as you can really enjoy the experience of journeying through backwaters...). The boat ride starts at 10.30am and reaches alleppey at 6pm (guess it\'s priced at Rs.150).

On reaching Alleppey, you can go 4 sight-seeing - there are palaces (Krishnapuram Palace housing the largest mural in kerala, Gajendra Moksha)... And ya, I mentioned about an area where farming is done below sea-level - it is Kuttanad which is again in Allepey. But I have no idea abt the transportation etc... From Alleppey you can easily go to Thekkady and later to Muunar, from where you can go to Cochin and do sight-seeing. There are Chinese fishing nets, St. Francis Church (considered to be India\'s oldest European church), forts, dutch palace, jewish synagogue etc.
All the places that I have mentioned are in south Kerala.
Don\'t know much abt north Kerala yaar...

Just forgot to mention the places in Trivandrum. There is the famous Padmanabhaswamy temple(Vishnu\'s), Sreechithra Art Gallery showcasing Raja RaviVarma\'s paintings, Veli Lagoon (a good picnic spot)... There is a museum near the Padmanabha temple. AND if you wanna go to a hill station you can go to Ponmudi 61km from Tvm. There are a good no. of buses,(journey time 2 and half hours)and it\'s a good trekking area. And on the way to Ponmudi is a wildlife sanctuary, where you can see elephants, leopards, macaque etc. AND of course, you have the internationally famous Kovalam beach, 16 km frm Tvm. Accmdtn is easily available there...
