The best way to know or feel how embarassing it is to face or to be an eunuch is to travel in the Indian trains. And the ugliest part of all these is the people passing bad comments or just making fun of them... Did anyone ever try to think what should be done to help them? Or should they just be left the same...?

India for most part is still conformist society where anything out of the normal is made fun of and ridiculed. Homosexuals are not accepted, eunuchs feared or made fun of. The worst thing is that even mentally deranged people are provoked into a frenzy by callous children.

Either one can maintain their identity and suffer the consequences of a close minded society or avoid any gestures and movements that may give them away as Eunuchs and help themselves.

Thinking about it some more, I think eunuchs, the way we see them in India, are a very distinct phenomenon. I was speaking to some of my Western and international colleagues and they neither know nor have seen any eunuchs. So, eunuchs are of 2 types. 1. natural or biological 2. artificial or self proclaimed.
<br> I think natural eunuchs are extremely rare in any population. That leaves us with the second category. I think in the West, these are transvestites. But, I guess, in the Indian context, these people are made so or become such, for the purpose of begging. I think in either case, they do not care much about being called names.
