Water issue

With all the mess happening about Cauvery, wouldnt it be more constructive if the politicians concentrated more on ways to conserve and manage water better? The Sept issue of National Geographic talks about how 70% of all world\'s fresh water is used for irrigation. And 50% of this water is wasted. This is due to water being free for irrigation in most countries. Hmm, that\'s a lot of water. The magazine says, if drip irrigation is used, no water is wasted and it in fact increases agricultural production. But then, who in our comuntry would bell that cat????
