Why do able-bodied men and women beg?? Why can\'t they do some work and earn their bread? There are lots of opportunities, so why do then need to beg? Isn\'t it a disgrace???

*Did you see this much amount of beggers? /beggars/
That is a relative term/statement from your own account. As an aside, one could see all sorts in most of the metro stations of Europe. Especially London, Paris, Oslo, Copenhagen and Roma.

neeraj, it completely depends on the the mentality of the person.the money they get from begging is easy money, right???they lack some qualities right from the day they were born , like self-respect, determination, working hard, etc etc, and most importantly they are parasites by nature.such persons can never be changed.anybody seen begging in developed nations are arrested to the best of my knowledge. the homeless are not allowed to sit/sleep on the footpaths.had the govt been very strict these people wud neverhave preferred becoming beggars coz it will not be anymore easy for them.

tarun thanks,, but your statement is difficult to accept, beggars are not born, they are just made, their attitudes can also be changed if the social organisations takes some intrest through the govt bodies....

small children are forced to do begging, how may children with crutches (though the are abled both legs) are found at signals, especially at tank bunds...

How may children are in the disguise as GAndhi painted in silver, i wrote a letter to the letters to editors and off late i havent seen any children.... atleast in that attire..

we also encourage the beggars by giving alms, which should be discouraged.. why there are so many jobs available eg road laying, construction work, cleaning work etc,

I seriously wish the govt takes serious measures to crub this pathetic menance...
