It is extremely distressing that this staff has been killed in Afgan.

I know how the south Indians feel insecured even outside their home states.

Then what to talk about Afganistan.

I know Manmohan singh will not wake up, unless his family is affected.

This is the time the govt try to rethink about indian citizens working in fanatic countries.

I got further pained by the second wife drama?

Anybody in this forum Know Mr Suryanarayana personally?

The probabability of such a thing happening was high enough for the company he was working to pay him 4 times what he would get working here, anyway even Suryanarayana knew the risks invloved but I believe the added responsibility of multiple wives led him to take the drastic decision to work in a war zone.Moral of the story ,your life is not worth risking for more money.Good to know that the company we was working for has taken the responsibility of his children from both the wives and paid compensation too, atleast his family wont have to worry about the children in his absence now.

civilians go to work in dangerous war zones only to earn money. as parinda said, in surya's case his 2 families must have made it imperative for him to earn as much as possible.

we cannot fault the indian govt as being responsible for his death, like some opposition leaders and certain sections of the media are doing. surya must have been aware of the risks he wud face. there have been at least three other cases of kidnap in the last couple of years, so this was always a danger.

the Indian govt gives commando protection to the employees of indian companies working in afghanistan but extending the same to indians (like surya) working for foreign companies wud be a logistical nightmare.

The worst wud be to accept the taliban's demand n withdrawing from there. we have to continue in the rebuilding of afghanistan and also ensure good security for our people there.

PoW

The "Place of Work" has its risks.

Abroad, PoW Kidnap Risk is ever there. More so in war & strife torn areas; bothforeign & indian companies factor for this in their costing. Our staff have to heed the local security concerns. In India, too, safety concerns should prevail; night journeys by road to be avoided. (A relative of mine, a budding bank officer, perished in an auto accident out of Hyderabad ... About Two Years Ago.)

I know this post forward we will dwell into a debate.

Let this be a RIP thread.

If you have a differing opiniate lets discuss this out of here.

We have again played into Media Hype.

Two wives ?

Yes the guy had two wives, and the media is cashing in on that story.

The main issue is gradually being sidelined.

What should have been the main issue is this.

This should have effected us more 'an Innocent Indian out to earn a livlehood was killed. " In such a way that his face could not be seen. Ah.

How and what could all us Indians and Media done.

- All sections of society should have condemend the attack and sent a strong message to the international community that we have been effected by the loss of an Indian Life.

- All sections of society should have pledged to go after the Taliban ideology, swearing to outroot its presence.

- We could have held a midnight vigil.

- All Indians could have worn black arm bands to their place of work whereever they lived

- The Indian government should have announced many new projects in Afghanistan with an open challenge to Taliban to even touch one Indian.

The media could have well cashed on the above

- Instead we choose to peep into the personal life of that poor guy. Two wifes and his need to work in war torn Afghanistan.

- What if he did not have two wives, would this have been just another one day news article and done with.?

- Good the company is paying for his kids, yes very good. But what are we as fellow Indian doing about it?

- We are taking that time off to say see, he knew it was dangerous and still he chose to work because he had two wives?

Ah how appaling.

The pressure of earning morning leads men to dirty places.

That is true on my account, as well as Mr Suryanarayana"s case.

The American Puppet CNN blames the individual for his death.

New Delhi: Murdered engineer Suryanarayana had voluntarily dispensed his security cover 15 minutes before he was kidnapped by Taliban militia, according to sources.

Thanks

Saying that CNN is an American Puppet implies it represents most American's. As an American I can assure you it does not. It is a puppet of the Bush Regime. I pray he does not completely destroy our country before we can get him out of office.

The sad death of this fine man Mr Suryanarayana, is another horrific example that after years of waging a supposed "war on terror" the world is in fact less safe then it was before.

i dont know if CNN is really pro-bush like Fox Network is. i have seen lots of critisism of bush in CNN, of the way he has handled iraq etc. couple of days ago, they repetedly telecast how Rumsfield was cornered in a press conf in US, when a former CIA agent there openly called him a liar.

Greed coupled with arrogance and stupid bravado...

the very reason that he went to work there coupled with going away from the security cover smacks of foolishness....sad but true...

the whole second wife angle gives insight to the kind of guy he was and why he paid with his life...a manifestation of the disregarding mentality and manly bravado ...
