Three LeT militants killed in New Delhi, Lucknow
New Delhi/Lucknow, PTI:
Three Lashkar-e-Taiba militants, including one believed to be involved in yesterday's twin blasts in Varanasi, were killed in separate encounters with the police in Delhi and Lucknow early this morning.
While two terrorists were killed in an encounter with the police in Bawana area of North West Delhi, another militant, identified as Salar alias Doctor Majeed was gunned down in as joint operation by UP Special Task Force and J and K Police in Gosaiganj on the outskirts of Lucknow.
Police sources said RDX and some detonators were found from possesssion of Salar, a Pakistani national.
Police did not rule out his involvement in the blasts at Sankatmochan temple and Cantonment Railway Station in Varanasi yesterday. They claimed that the encounter took place when he was on his way to Lucknow from Varanasi.
"I do not rule out the possibility of he being involved in the conspiracy behind Varanasi blasts," K Rajendra, Inspector General (Kashmir Range) said in Srinagar adding that Salar had been operating in Delhi and UP for quite sometime.
Salar was involved in a conspiracy to carryout an attack on the Indian Military Academy in Dehradun which was foiled by the security forces.
In Delhi, among the two LeT terrorists killed was Ghulam Yazdani, who was suspected to be involved in the Vijayadashmi attack on the Special Task Force office in Hyderabad.
Yazdani, a Bangladeshi national, and his colleague were gunned down in Bawana area by a team of Special Cell sleuths in an encounter at around 5.45 a.M., Joint Commissioner (special cell) Karnal Singh told PTI.
One AK-56 assault rifle, two Czheck-made Lugar pistols, four grenades, four kg PETN explosive, fake currency with the face value of Rs 47,000, and a Bangladeshi sim card were recovered from their possession. Several rounds of ammunition was also recovered from the duo.
To what extent are these encounters factual, politcially managed, police managed, religious factions managed or media managed? Are these based on any facts, at the least?
Could it be true that the Indian police can find anybody, anywhere within hours and also kill them in encounters? or maybe arrest them too?
Are these put out in the media so that religious emotions are put to ease? If so, is that good enough for the good of the people?
