Khusboo on the Top of Fire

by ankita » Mon Nov 21, 2005 4:57 pm

Tamil actress Khusboo is probably the latest celebrity who has been termed as filthy and “pseudo-mod” like Mahesh Bhatt, Pooja Bhatt, Vinod Khanna etc, by the Indians. The recent remarks by the actress, apparently justifying pre-marital sex, have led to a storm of protests in Tamil Nadu and forced her to apologize tearfully to the people, especially women, over television. Not only that, she was even taken into police custody as a consequence of that, when several women’s organization filed a law-suit against the actress. However, she was released later on bail. The whole Tamil community is uproaring saying that the actress at the behest of some people is trying to corrupt the youth of the community/nation and spoiling the culture.

Let me tell to the Tamil Patronizers that the whole incident is exhibiting how hypocritical the so-called conservative societies can be. I don’t understand why all the hue and cry is created on this issue! Premarital sex is a thing that is happening thing in this world and everybody knows that so well. Khusboo just aired her views. Just because she is a celebrity and a woman, is it necessary to expect that she can’t express her personal views? I feel this is hypocrism at its best!!

It’s just not fair to blame a person regarding what she or he has said. First of all we need to stop misinterpreting people’s attitude as I guess everybody has a right to voice one's own opinion. Moreover, I am still confused why the women’s organizations are trying to shape up the whole issue as an infringement towards women’s respect! I believe the beleaguered actress talked about two things: safe sex and pre- marital sex. Now the question is how these two things are only related to women? Men are also equally correlated to the issue as far as immorality is concerned. So if men are not howling over this, why women’s organizations are publicizing the matter so much?

Basically Indians particularly older generation are introverts and cannot speak about certain things openly though they know it’s evident. Unless, we speak about such topics openly, we cannot educate our children correctly on sexual issues thus pushing our next generations into further darkness. Khusboo did the right thing by saying what she felt and has nothing to regret about and we all know that her apology was to only avoid further politicization of the subject.

this is just a political and publicity game by the PMK and they know what buttons to press in order to whip up public frenzy...all the protesters shown on TV and even the lawyer who filed the suit in court are PMK workers....and they are helped by the lack of balls in the other prominent persons who matter :x

ankitha...

we should learn our future generation about sex..theres nothing wrong...

but if some one encourage children to have sex during their school dayz is some thing wrong......

indian constitution gives not only rights to indians but also some duties..

one of the duty is to protect our indian culture and heritage.

kushboo's comments are against indian culture....

i personally feel, most of the ppl are immitating europian culture....

like wearing transparent dress..having public sex..exposing skin...speaking only english and neglecting mother tongure...etc

Here we go again about 'Indian culture' and blah blah blah....

I have started to seriously be confused whether India is a democracy and about our levels of hypocrisy....

Ankitha, thanks for starting the thread....after all if we can't douse water on the burnt effigies, we can at least say our side of the arguement...
