well if your like me...then there are plenty of disadvantages for instance it takes a while for your body to get used to everything, the air, food, traffic, among other things...but it feels good to be back in the mother land..I personally cant say i'll stay here forever but i dont mind staying in india for a few years...

If you are returning for good then you don't have much choice. So why do you care if there are disadvantages or not when you have to move in anyway? :?:

Good luck to you, Xfactor. Moving back home is something most people dream about and plan for.

I thought about it too. When I vacation in Hyd, it feels great. But only cuz its a vacation. I know it'd be a totally different deal if I went there for good. I know I cant do it. I realized that during my last trip earlier this year.

Dont let my words faze you though. Im sure that after you weigh the pros and cons, you'll understand better what your next plan of action should be.

:)

Guys, dont get me wrong here. Im not saying America (or any other country) is better than India. Im simply saying Im confortable and content with the way things are where I live now. I love India, but that doesnt mean I have to live there to prove it.

Very true Alexis...

As i always go every year for vacation its go gr8 u feel when u are in hyd and on vacation ... so its so much fun but again i know there will be some problems when we live for long as we start compareing things but again i think we should put all the things on the board and mark green and red and see how many greens we got to make a final decision...

So i have to wait and see how many greens and reds marks i will on the board... :)

See, if its in your heart to really wanna move back to Hyd, then Im sure the minor disadvantages (superficial ones)* would be easy to ignore.

Focus on how this move would affect your career/studies. Isnt that the most important factor?

Theres no doubt that even visiting our place of birth brings us a lot of peace of mind. Living there will be as awesome as you make it. Your happiness depends on how you perceive things. :)

*By Superficial disadvantages, I meant mosquitoes, traffic, food, etc.

Personally, I would never move if I am single....but having a family and kids changes a lot of things then this drastic step would be reasonable. Is hyd tat good? I don't know....

Disadvantages?

Traffic, Traffic and then some more!

If there's one aspect of the city that gets to you, it is this. And the worst part is people here don't think twice before jumping a signal. Its sad.

Advantages? Believe me, (after having lived elsewhere too), the people here are much more hospitable and accomodating than their Bangalore/Delhi counterparts.
Whether you think you can, or you think you can't, you are right.

Overall, I've liked hyderabad more than many places I've been in. Some disadvantages do exist though.

1. As Bimbette said, traffic. But then, it was no better in Gujjuland.

2. Food. One thing that I really miss in Hyd is the variety of food I'm used to. Everything out here is teluguised (read adding mustard seeds, udad dal and curry leaves). Plus, you don't have many choices to eat after hours except for coffee shops in star hotels.

3. The so-called laid-back attitude of people here. When I was in bombay, I used to be the poster-boy of punctuality. Damn...if I missed the 8:21 fast from Borivali by even a minute, I'd be late in office by a full 40 minutes. And here in Hyd, I've become a lazybum as I see that nobody around is punctual. And I hate waiting more than anything else on this planet.

But as I said, overall, this is one of the best places one can be in India.
