Hello all,

Glad to find a website which is truly dedicated to Hyderabad.

After a long hiatus of 4.5 years, I will finally be setting my feet on Hyderabadi soil this December. I have heard that a lot of things have changed and my city is no more like the one I knew. I can get a feel for how it might have turned out, by looking at the sites like these, but may be not.

Just a little bit more about myself. I am a guy in my twenties and YES I am from America and NO I am not looking for a one-month all inclusive kind of an arranged marriage.

Most of the friends I grew up with, have migrated to different places. Don't know what I am gonna do without them on the weekends or rather every evening. That is ofcourse after being a display item for all my relatives (for atleast a week) from my Mom's side and Dad's side. The fear that I will find myself a stranger in my own country is dawning up on me fast.

I have a couple of things on my TODO list (like finally learning to play a guitar and more to come)

Please suggest any ideas to make my vacation a great one.

Yeah. You guessed it right. I listen to Pink Floyd a lot.

BTW., do we have any clubs out there in Hyd that play rock music (heavy metal/prog metal/good old classic rock)

Thanks guys for so many prompt responses.

A glimmer of hope .......

DSOTM welcome back home :)

You wont find yourself to be a stranger in your own country, that can never happen.

Gone are the days when people visiting from abroad are being made display items ..now going to the US is like visiting the loo.

Hope you enjoy ur vacation and have a nice stay in India..believe me nothing like our country. You may have got used to a good quality of life there but no country on earth would give you that feeling of belonging..its only here that you would feel that..so keep your fears aside and have a blast :)

Welcome DSOTM. Shine on!!!

And as CAD already told you, Easy Rider's the best place to listen to rock. And if your tastes go a little heavier, like metal and all (though I seriously doubt that for someone who's a big Floyd fan), I guess One Flight Down is the place.

And if you're okay with no drinks while listening to music, you're welcome to my place. I have a decent classic/hard rock collection. Not much of metal though apart from the usual suspects like Metallica, Dream Theater etc.

Thanks everyone for resonding so positively to my post.

Floydie HP, I will surely give you a holler once I am in Hyd and check out your collection. I have a total 7 Pink Floyd albums in my IPOD, wanted to get some of their earlier works like (Atom Heart Mother, Ummagumma)

One of my friends suggested that I can buy DVDs for a lot of live shows at a very cheap rate. That is on my TODO list as well.

And one other thing on my TODO list is gorging myself on world's best biryani. Ah man, my mouth already started watering at the very thought of it.

What else can I do in Hyd. Can you please give me some creative ideas?

I have all their works. Including a CD of their RARE recordings. So you're surely in for a treat.
