Urgent question on Resorts

by Sharjeel » Thu Jul 14, 2005 7:06 pm

Which one of Alankrita and Pragati resorts is the better one? We are planning a trip there. If there is some other better option, please suggest your choice. Thank You! :D

They're Amusement Park type places where we can spend the day n relax. Both are on the outskirts of Hyderabad.

Pragati resorts has a lovely, cute swimming pool and you can freak out there. There are lots of trees. Food is good and cheap.

Alankrita is more like an ethnic place...pretty pretentious, costlier than pragati and less fun, more relaxing...however it is nearer to the city than pragati.

Check out both at:

Enjoy!

Yesterday we all went to Dhola-ri-Dhani. In fact, me went directly from the resort to the meet . Thanks to Akhilbhau for dropping me at my house.

We will go to Pragati Resorts today. :D Thanks to everyone for your input.

Okay, on with the review. I was having a herrible and torrible body ache and headache on account of a bad cold picked up in the heavy rains on saturday. So, me did not participate in any of the fun and games; was just the 'water man', so to speak.

It is too far away (30+ kms), and the roads are not good, so the drive is not such a pleasant one. Lots of parking space and the driveway is very nice, lined with trees.

The entry fee is reasonable, although the resort is not yet fully functional. The staff is pleasant and helpful, and keep out of the way.

The lawns and trees are the star attractions, with each group of trees labeled (their scientific or whtvr and common names). The lawns are very nice, and a lot of effort has been put into the trees and lawns which translates into a lot of soothing eye candy (greenery), and a feast for the botanist.

Lots of slides and rides for the children, although, as I said before, the park is incomplete, and would have been a lot more fun if all the wings were complete. The children will have a lot of fun here.

As Betty had pointed out, the swimming pool was the focus of attention with most of the families having a blast! The rents for the bath suits are cheap, and the life guards do their duty nicely. The water slides were closed, which was a major disappointment.

There are also a lot of games and side shows. Billiards, table tennis, and other games are all covered. If me did not have such a fever, then maybe I would have covered the games (which would be my favourite and automatic destination). There is also a cricket ground, skating ground, AND Electronic Games (At an outdoor resort? sic!). A dance floor, conference hall, resturants and cottages complete the resort. There are facilities provided for overnight stay.

Food is so-so. The restaurants are definitely something which can be improved, althought the Dosas are very nice. The swimming pool and most of the rides close at 7 pm.

As I said, it will be a lot more fun when it is complete and all the rides are functional. All in all, good value for money, if the long and irritating drive can be tolerated.
