firstly, when we talk about India vs china, who cares if those ass holes do not have freedom as long as they are sloggign their asses for their country s development? and tomorrow if they take ove the global economy and hijcak our exports, who will be resposnible?

I care. And as a citizen of the free world you should care too. There is a poem I had read called a Plea for Action. It is a classic case of what happens when power is in the hands of a select few. How over the years that absolute power tends to be abused. You should read that to understand that there is no quickfix solution to any problem. And two wrongs do not make one right.

just cos a govermnet murdered a few hundred revolutionaries, does nt mean that it is inefficient. If we look from th government s point of view, its just like killing the naxals in India (here we are talking about people who do not believe or live in the main stream or who chose to walk the other paths). what abaout all those civilisations whose foundations are based on genocide (Pommes, Americans... do u hear me?)

One, those people were not outlaws. They were citizens demanding the right to free speech, something that we in India have the luxury to take for granted. I am appalled you could compare an oppressed people to outlaws. What do you suggest then? Tomorrow we in India should do the same to all the environmentalists because they are always at the back of Industrialists to conserve the environment there by increasing manufacturing costs and slowing down the development of the country?

Yes, that concerns me too. But, like I said, I would rather live in India than in any other part of the world. Because it offers me the luxury of freedom that no Nation does, especially post 9/11 - even the US and the UK. Here no one would arrest me if I were to scream my head off that Manmohan Singh is a lousy Prime Minister. In the US they may arrest me on terror suspicions.

I do not care if China is ahead of India as far as the public perception is concerned. What I do know is that China is not a democracy. And, to me, any country that is not a democracy cannot survive for very long. Any country that can run tanks on its own people (Tinnaman Square) just cannot be a nation we can look up to, in any regard.

If all that development has to come at the cost of me losing my freedom or having to use bicycles to get around, I say to hell with it all.
