Darwin's Theory

This is a fantastic link. A brilliant read which will stimulate all the thinkers out here.

Let's get started with the discussions, shall we?

Why isn't there a separate place to post good links on FH? :x :x :x

that's one of the worst designed websites i've ever seen Sherry. I'd love to read it but the structure puts me off. I've seen a few rebuttals of evolutionary theory, all of which can be easly dealt with. That is why the VAST majority of serious scientists have accepted the concept of evolution over the past 150 years. Most of the standard rebuttals are from people who don't really understand evolution.

what Sherry's URL talks abt is the Creationist theory that opposes Darwin's Evolution concept.

heres to debunking the "Creationist" theory:

the url below contains good links to various sites that prove creationist theory is false. go thru it as much as possible

and on the lighter side:

Since we are on evolution, does anyone have any info on what Hinduism says about genesis? Or even if it has any such thing? I have read what the Bible has to say. Somehow never could find out what Hinduism says.

they all say the same versions in different ways, but as far as i know, hinduism does nt really emphasise on the genesis of humans as much as it does on nature. it does nt really consider humans as rthe supreme most beings on earth, like the books of the middle easter origin.

yes...even i never heard of any hindu version of Genesis...but i am sure there has to be some reference in one of the obscure passages of the Vedas abt origin of life etc.

but the Great Deluge (Noah's ark) story of the Old Testament does have a Hindu equivalent: the story of the Matsyavtar where the world is flooded for some days and a rishi in a boat (carrying the Vedas to safety) is protected from danger by Vishnu in incarnation of a fish.

btw, do u know that the Govt of US (under St. Dubya) is selling books at Grand Canyon that claim that the Great Deluge created the Canyon...!!!

...and IMAX theaters in southern american states are refusing to screen a scientific film because the film talks abt the Evolution theory of Darwin and the cinemas are scared of offending the local citizens who largely believe in Creationist theory (Genesis)....

lending any credibility to this "science" is a bad idea. As in the cartoon above, Darwin spent his life collecting data, analysing it, and his conclusions represent a best fit to the emperical data he recorded. Creationists have alread made up their minds, and are looking for data to support that conclusion. Thats not science in any shape or form.

There is literally NO way "creationist" theory can be debunked, as it relies on the supernatural, so any indescrepencies can be easly explained away with a wave of god's magic wand. There are many, many scientific findings that would invalidate evolution, however those findings haven't occured yet.

Many times in the past, the scientific comunity has been dreadfully wrong about something. however in these times, the theory which replaced the old, incorrect one was arrived at through emperical means, using scientific method, and fitting the theory to the available data, not the other way around.

in summary, this is not science. Science by definition tries to come up with natural explanations for the way the universe works.

He said except, and not accept... So, yes, he is a true blue Hyderabadi after all.
