Is love really blind?

by fren » Sat Oct 11, 2003 7:40 pm

Hey why do we say love is blind? When we know we choose our life partner, we rarely fall in love with a stranger. We first know each other then decide whether this person is right or wrong. Yet we say love is blind? Is love really blind???

You can choose a life partner but you can\'t \"choose\" to fall in love. If you are deciding whether the person is right or wrong for you, then you\'ve not really \"fallen in love\" with him/her. When you fall in love with the person, you are (usually) blind to his/her shortcomings. You\'ll want to go the whole length with him/her without bothering whether the person is right for you or not.
Whether you think you can, or you think you can't, you are right.

Hi Fren,
<br>
<br>
The reason why they say love is blind is that once you are in love, you would be blind and not see the other important aspects like family background, status of the candidate (he or she could be already married, suppose), etc. The love would turn you blind... It may not be a right match because of the age factor or the religion. Hence, it\'s termed that love is blind...

Continuing ZC\'s line of thought, love is deaf and dumb too :). But seriously, I think they say love is blind bcos\' once you \"fall\" in love, you don\'t see the faults of your \"loved\" one. Whatever he or she does (to you or to others) you don\'t find it wrong or you find reasons to justify it. Nowadays, it\'s the other way round. Most couples try to find fault with whatever their partner does. May be the youth of the country have opened their eyes in love?

Is love really blind?

This reminds me of a joke.
<br>
<br>
One day during my undergrad, me and some friends skipped a class to watch a movie. We were going to a theater in Narayanguda and were travelling by bus. As usual we were validating Newton\'s first law by hanging on the foot board of an empty bus (styles of Hyderabad) and saw this couple on a bike advertising for Fevicol (Fevicol ka jod, tootegha nahi). I mean, they were sitting too close to each other, to our discomfort. It was a nice sunny day and the sun was going through his afternoon routine of burning us Hyderabadi denizens. I was hanging on the footboard and doing what every other Indian of my age does - staring at this Fevicol couple. And suddenly I observed that this Fevicol couple\'s bike has its head light on full beam! I wondered, why they needed \'head light\' in broad \'day light\'. To that my friend yawned and said, \"Love is blind, poor fella can\'t see the road without head light!\" How true he was. The guy looked like a not so distant relative of Babu Mohan and the gal looked like a Femina Miss India model! Love is really blind.
May the Fries be with you!

Love is not blind - it sees more and not less, but because it sees more it is willing to see less.
