Women Police Patrolling Introduced In Hyderabad

The Hyderabad Police have introduced women police patrolling in the capital to check eve-teasing, sexual assaults and the general harassment of women.
Hyderabad | 11th February 2018
For the first time, the Hyderabad Police have introduced women police patrolling in the capital city to check eve-teasing, sexual assaults and the general harassment of women.

The women patrols were introduced in the Osmania University area on Sunday.

Male police personnel will however assist the women police during the patrolling.

The thought behind the initiative was that women hesitate to approach police stations and complain to male police officers when eve-teasers and stalkers harass them on the roads. Girls can now approach women police without even having to enter a police station, whenever they face harassment.

Eve-teasing, harassment and drinking on the streets have become a common feature on the Tarnaka roads, which come under the Osmania University police station, resulting in the patrolling starting off in that area.

The women police have been given the mandate to get tough with eve-teasers and drunks on the roads on the spot.
