Three persons of a family were burnt alive in a gas cylinder blast in Kantathmakur village under Damera mandal of Warangal Rural district.
The police identified the dead as Mamindla Kumaraswamy (45), Rajamma (60) and Sujatha (35).
The DCP Venkateshwarlu and Parakala MLA Challa Dharma Reddy visited the village and consoled the family members of the dead.
Police said that Kumaraswamy had two wives. He was living with his second wife after differences with his first wife. According to locals, Kumaraswamy's first wife's son Karthik burnt the house of his father by sprinkling petrol on it along with his friends, and this led to the death of Kumaraswamy, Sujatha and Rajamma. But the police say that the incident took place only because of the blast of a gas cylinder. The police also said that they would get the full details only after an inquiry.
Parakala MLA Challa Dharma Reddy handed over Rs 10,000 to the family for the final rites. He asked the police to clear all doubts in the case through a thorough inquiry.
The police shifted the dead bodies to Warangal's MGM Hospital for post mortems.
