Former Minister Dr P Shankar Rao on Saturday claimed that the Centre would make a clear statement on the Telangana statehood issue on September 29, a day before the Telangana March on September 30.
Talking to reporters persons at Assembly media point, Shankar Rao said that the government was making sincere and serious efforts to resolve the Telangana issue on top priority and would make an announcement by September 29. Stating that the government was committed to honour its promise made to the people on December 9, 2009, the birthday of Congress president Sonia Gandhi, he felt there was no need to take up Telangana March being organized under the aegis of Telangana Political Joint Action Committee on September 30. He asked all sections of people not to take extreme steps like suicides out of frustration over the issue.
Dr Shankar Rao also asked the state government to respect the orders of Central Administrative Tribunal on Rampachodavaram Assistant Superintendent of Police Naveen Kumar and lift his suspension orders immediately. He appealed to government not to file any review petitions in the courts as they could damage the reputation of the government. (INN)
