Board of Intermediate Education Secretary Dr A Ashok today instructed the managements of junior colleges to not conduct classes during the summer vacation.
Speaking at a meeting of the managements and officials that he convened, he said that the government had announced summer vacation till the end of May, and there were already complaints that some colleges were remaining open in spite of strict orders. He warned of serious action against such colleges.
He also directed them to take permission as per schedule by April 15 for recognition and to maintain hostels.
He said that he would inform the government about the appeal of the managements to relax the strict norms for running hostels attached to colleges.
