Leader Of The House and Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao today announced in the Assembly that he would induct two women MLAs into his cabinet.
Giving a reply to the members during a debate on the vote-on-account budget, the Chief Minister said that there would be another expansion and six more cabinet posts would be filled.
"We have respect for women and will not neglect them. The TRS won the elections as most of the women voted for us. In the next expansion, we will provide berths to two women MLAs as ministers," he said.
Speculation is rife that two women ministers may be Padma Devender Reddy, formerly Deputy Speaker, and Rekha Naik, an ST MLA.
KCR also said that a woman leader was given a chance to become an MLC by being offered one of the four seats of the TRS.
The Chief Minister also announced that interest-free loans up to Rs 10 lakh would be given to women's groups.
KCR denied comments that the TRS was not giving respect to women leaders.
