The whereabouts of the Nalgonda Two Town Police Station CI Venkateshwarlu, who went missing for over 24 hours, were traced to Suryalanka in Bapatla mandal of Guntur district of Andhra Pradesh on Saturday.
On receipt of the information, the Nalgonda police rushed to the spot and found Venkateshwarlu there. The CI had rented a resort using a different name.
The Nalgonda police team returned along with Venkateshwarlu.
Venkateshwarlu said that he had been under enormous pressure from higher-ups in the case of the murder of Boddupalli Srinivas, and had gone to Suryalanka for mental peace.
For the uninitiated, Venkateshwarlu, who is the investigating officer in the murder of the husband of Nalgonda municipal chairperson Boddupalli Lakshmi, had gone missing on Friday. He had deposited his official SIM card at the Madgulapalli police station, and switched off his personal phone, too. He had handed over his revolver to his driver and left.
It is learnt that Venkateshwarlu has been under serious mental stress with the high-profile two murders in Nalgonda town, and had been chided by his higher-ups about them.
