Lok Sabha MPs from Telangana Chamakura Malla Reddy and Konda Vishweshwar Reddy, representing the Malkajgiri and Chevella Lok Sabha constituencies respectively, tendered their resignations to the Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan in New Delhi today.
Malla Reddy informed the Speaker that he was resigning as an MP because he had been elected as an MLA from Medchal in the just-concluded Telangana Assembly elections. The Speaker then congratulated the TRS leader on his victory and accepted his resignation. Reddy had defeated the nearest rival - Congress leader Laxma Reddy - by 87,990 votes.
Separately, Konda Vishweshwar Reddy, who had won the 2014 general elections as a TRS candidate, submitted his resignation as he has defected to the Congress.
